No tinkering necessary, just launched the game and it worked fine.
very poorly optimised
Played through the entire game without any issues.
The FPS drop was too much even for my low standards.
At a certain point in playing, fps would drop to around 10fps and stay there.
I gave up and played on Windows, grudgingly.

Runs perfectly except for a tiny graphics issue
Weird shadows on the sea surface near screen borders or obstacles
Poor performance but otherwise runs fine (resolution changes require .ini file changes in prefix)
Toggling fullscreen/windowed-fullscreen settings in-game would freeze/crash the game.
Sluggish performance given the minimum system specs. To optimise, I had to reduce pretty much all settings to low, turn anti-aliasing up to 1, and reduce resolution from 1080p (the option for which is disabled in-game). However, you can successfully change resolution in GameUserSettings.ini (along with other settings) which can be found here:
$Home/steamapps/compatdata/770390/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/Draugen/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor
Just set the X and Y resolution variables in the ini accordingly, e.g.
ResolutionSizeX=1280
ResoultionSizeY=720
Black screen on launch but as others reported, just hit Escape (or B with Steam Controller) to continue as needed. Also freezes at end credits so you have to force quit.
Summary
Essentially runs out of the box (after hitting B or Escape) but any changes to resolution require tinkering with the GameUserSettings.ini as mentioned. Performance isn't particularly good unless resolution and other settings are reduced, but otherwise the game ran fine from start to finish using Steam Controller.

fullscreen works, but don't try to change it to window mode (it crashes)
don't forget to press ESC when screen stay black on game startup

I am not sure if it's only me as everybody has given very good reviews, but this game was just unplayable due graphics slowness.
graphic slowness
Impossible to move the camera with my mouse, the games gets unplayable. Moving the camera with my PS4 controller was somewhat ok, but the graphics were lagging.
Enjoyable but I had occasional performance problems
Sometimes heavy stuttering kicked in for no apparent reason. Interacting with the mirror made the framerate much worse. Only restarting the game reset the performance back to an enjoyable level.
You have to hit the ESC-Key for the game to actually start and get you to the start menu.
Works perfectly
As the other reviews mention, you need to press ESC once after launching the game. Everything else works perfectly fine.

Same issues reported by others. You have to press the esc key for the game to actually load. When you try to switch from windowed mode to fullscreen it crashes. After that you are able to play the game and the performance is mostly ok at the maximum quality. The frame rate fluctuates a little more than desirable and near the end of the game there are severe drops in places that were reaching 60 fps before with no issues. And after the credits the game freezes.
Despite all of these problems it is still possible to enjoy the game.

Still has the same issues (needs esc on start, stuck after credits, crashes when trying to change from windowed to full-screen), but plays flawlessly. Completed the game with good performance on Ultra. Also wasn't able to change resolution and ratio in the video settings --- it's stuck at 1920x1080.

I did not test any settings except switching from windowed fullscreen to just fullscreen. The game launches normally apart from the bugs other mention (press escape at the starting black screen). However, after a minute or so or after finishing with loading after New Game is clicked, the game crashes with a message of critical error and some hex number above.

Technically, the game deserves the Platinum rating but it has a few minor issues hence Silver. You need to press Esc (or (B) on controller) to skip an unplayable video right after start. Changing from Windowed Fullscreen to just Fullscreen or back sometimes causes the game to crash with a message "Fatal error" (not very verbose). After the final credits the game suggests to press a button (Start, apparently but the icon looks like a hamburger menu) to return to the main menu but after that it freezes on a black screen, nothing helps except killing the game from the Steam overlay.
I played the game through to the end (took about 3 hours) in Big Picture with Steam Controller. No visual or sound glitches, no crashes/freezes, decent FPS, perfectly playable.

Black screen on start up (just press esc) and after credits (stuck). Entire game worked perfectly with steam controller.

Besides the black-screen-escape-trick, runs without any problems.

As others have said, just need to press ESC at launch to get past blank screen. Completed game with no issues or crashes. Tested resolution: 2560 x 1440 with max settings. Performance / Framerate were nice and smooth.

Need to press ESC to get past the black screen in the main menu. Other than that, there are some graphical glitches, faces have missing bits so you can see through (like eyeballs, teeth from the inside).

Black screen on startup. just press escape. runs fine

Starts but black screen.
