Probably fine but I didn't test multiplayer so don't take my word for it
On first launch it was windowed, pressing Alt + Enter made it flicker severely. When I got past the tutorial and got to the options menu, the fullscreen setting was set to 50 FPS, changing it to my monitor's native 75 FPS made it run just fine.
I chose the Vulkan renderer.
-disable-native-gc
Labelled Crossplay and match was great.
Once again, as noted elsewhere, -disable-native-gc
is a REQUIRED launch argument.
-disable-native-gc
Played some cross-play multiplayer, no desyncs or lag whatsoever
currently unplayable on all 3 of steam's default stable activation methods (Ex: Vulkan). Might dip my toes into beta channel later jusst for this game.
-disable-native-gc
Story mode portraits become blank white boxes for a split second when cutscenes end.
Note that the game doesn't support cloud saves, so you'll wanna manually copy over your old one if you want your story mode unlocks to transfer.
Launch option "-disable-native-gc" prevented crashes on startup. Works flawlessly.
Aside from needing to set the launch option, the game runs perfectly under both DirectX and Vulkan.
As stated in other reports, had to use the launch option "-disable-native-gc" to play without crashing.

Game not launching
Tried launching with either DXVK, OpenGL or Vulkan, all of them don't get the game to launch, even with -disable-native-gc as a launch option. I also tried different proton versions but neither could get it to work (Proton 6.0 GE1, Proton 5.0-10, Proton 5.13-5)
Use -disable-native-gc
option in Set Launch Options...
-disable-native-gc in Set launch options is still needed to get the game working

Añadir -disable-native-gc en "Definir parámetros de lanzamiento..."
Game will crash shortly after launch unless specified launch options are enabled. Played with keyboard and DualShock 3 controller.
Add -disable-native-gc
under "Set launch options..."

Hello, reporting again. I can say for sure that putting in the launch option '-disable-native-gc' definitely works. The game is running smoothly now for me, though I haven't tested online play yet, nor extensively tested the various offline options. What I have seen so far is running flawlessly, no lag whatsoever.
HOWEVER, another user reported it was simple to get the GameCube Adapter working. This was definitely not the case for me. The only way I could get it to recognize the GC Adapter was to use the program wii-u-gc-adapter developed by ToadKing (search for it, you'll find it on github). Once you compile it (just use the make command), you need to run it from the command line, probably with root privileges.
Then from there, you will need to go into the configuration files for the game and create your own profile for your controller. Steam only worked for me using the flatpak install, so I had to dig through my directories to find where the controller profiles were located. For me, it was in the directory ~/home/YOUR-USERNAME/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/data/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/725480/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/Ludosity/Slap City/controllerprofiles/. I copied and pasted one of the controller profiles (they are .json files) and experimented for about 90 minutes, until I got it working to my satisfaction. And then you still need to configure the controller to get it to do what you want.
I'm not sure everyone would have the same problems I did getting the controller to work. My GC adapter was some off-market one (there wasn't even a brand name on my box), which could have something to do with my problems. Just in case, I will provide a link to a pastebin of MY GC adapter profile here, without the "https" part.

I hope this helps someone to get the game running with a GameCube controller.

Just use the launch option '-disable-native-gc', works perfectly with both OpenGL and Vulkan. Got all my controllers working fine with some easy tweaks, just reference the Slap City website for a guide on that.

As the previous reports have said, there has been trouble getting this to work recently. I found that it works perfectly after adding "-disable-native-gc" to "Set launch options...". I'm using OpenGL-based WineD3D as Vulkan is not supported on my system. I imagine it will work just fine with Vulkan and this tweak.

Crashes right after the screen telling you about the Unity update. Not only that, Steam still thinks the game is running, so you have to close Steam as well, and then manually send the kill signal to the processes to be able to restart Steam.
No change from previous versions

Crashes right after the screen telling you about the Unity update. Not only that, Steam still thinks the game is running, so you have to close Steam as well, and then manually send the kill signal to the processes to be able to restart Steam.

As others have noticed, new update broke the game :(

Tested on Proton 4.2-2. I guess the new Unity broke some stuff. Tested the default renderer and the Vulkan renderer.

Totally borked since they upgraded to Unity 2018.1.9, game will crash at once regardless of which renderer you choose.

You can't force d3d9 anymore, i tried forcing OpenGL and Vulkan as it's an option now, but the game keeps crashing in both cases. They updated Unity from 5.6.3 to 2018.1.9 so i hope they are making a Linux port soon.

Everything works fine without any tweaks. Performance is great.

I added '-force-d3d9' to the launch options and it worked perfectly!

You'll have to use the -force-d3d9 launch option to get characters to render. With this option enabled, the game runs perfectly. All sounds work perfectly, it detects controllers (even if they disconnect and reconnect).

Main menu is invisible (with normal launch options and forcing d3d9), and thus crucially unplayable.

It doesn't start, not even when I tried -force-d3d9

Played all characters in the arcade mode without problems

Runs perfectly after forcing dx9 with -force-d3d9

Needs the -force-d3d9 flag to be added to Launch Options - otherwise all the characters are invisible. Works flawlessly after that - with controllers as well!

Either errors once you're inside or doesn't launch at all.

Many visual problems are solved by forcing DX9 -force-d3d9 in steam launch options. Stock display is broken.

You have to put -force-d3d9 in the launch options so character models display normally. Stock icons are invisible. Performance is somewhat sketchy and cannot always stay at 120.

Works absolutely flawlessly once the "-force-d3d9" flag has been set in the launch options. Otherwise, characters are invisible.

No Character Models, Fullscreen Crashes on Start Up, No Stock Icons
