launch window very occasionally all black. fixed by restarting the game
Flickering screen makes it impossible to play
Tried all proton versions and the aforementioned java launch option trick
Either doesn't start at all (using java launch option trick) , or through proton the launcher is black screen but you can click play if you know where it is, but once the game starts it flickers incessantly. Works if manually launching from install dir
Broken/black screen out-of-the-box, however the native Java trick from earlier reports works wonderfully
java -jar tametsi.exe # %command%
Beautiful.
I played most of my playtime on 3.7-8, as recommended by another user, and ignored things not displaying properly in the launcher since the game seemed to work fine. Finally tried 7.0-4 recently, and it's night and day. Launcher works perfectly and had a couple options I was just thinking I'd prefer, I didn't even realize the menu tips were supposed to scroll through, and several more things weren't quite displaying properly in-game and now look so much better.
Never, ever take someone's advice on here without first checking to see if you have the same issues. (And please report your distro, thank you!)

Launcher before game not visible in newer versions of Proton
Newer Proton versions are unplayable and cause screen flickering. Going back to 3.7-8 fixed it.
java -jar tametsi.exe %command%
Top bar and Dash to Panel in GNOME are not hidden in fullscreen
Had to add java -jar tametsi.exe %command% to the launch options to get the game to launch via Steam, but after that I have not encountered any issues. Only problem is fullscreen does not seem to work correctly, as the top bar and dash to panel are not hidden on GNOME. I can't speak for other DEs or WMs.

Worked out of the box really well.
Works without any problems with Proton
Bypassed proton by using java -jar tametsi.exe %command% in launch options.
Launch options: java -jar tametsi.exe %command%
newer proton versions have some graphical issues but 3.7-8 works fine
Other than the launcher being slightly glitchy it works perfectly out of the box
The launcher is a little glitchy and doesn't redraw correctly when switching tabs or changing settings, but in game everything is fine
Resolution selection is glitchy but game works perfectly
The resolution selection dialog has severe graphical glitching, but the actual game works fine
D9VK draws the unity menus for tametsi as solid black, using WineD3D (or Proton 4.11-13 which will also cause the use of WineD3D) fixes this issue.
runs perfect out of the box

Runs perfectly. The full screen mode does not hide the Gnome Shell top bar, it can be hidden with an extension (e.g. https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/545/hide-top-bar/).

Does not start, but is playable natively from install directory using java -jar tametsi.exe
(after creating AppId file using printf 709920 >steam_appid.txt
).
