Nothing bad to report here
All green. owo
PS5 controller not picked up in the native version or Proton. Tried Proton Experimental, GE, and 6.3-8. This issue also existed in the itch.io version.

Native support and works right out of the box.
It's not a problem, but the game does start in the windowed mode regardless of your launch commands. You can easily change the game's settings when you start up the game and get to the title screen.
It wasn't a problem for me, but a common error report is your controller isn't detected on the native version. See if you need to install drivers for your controller, use Steam Input, or run the Windows version.
Night in the Woods works right out of the box because it has native support. In a worse scenario, you can run the Windows version with Proton or Wine, but I haven't dealt with that issue.

switched to proton for controller detection (8bitdo Ultimate)
crashed once, took steam with it
if your controller is supported natively, there's no use for proton here, runs natively

Screen tearing
Controller did not work with the native version. Switched to Proton.
Used Proton 6.3-8 because every other version I tried caused screen tearing,

Developers didn't set up cloud saves properly, and saves don't sync between Windows and Linux, forcing me to use the Windows version of the game for cloud saves and defeating the purpose of having a Linux build.
I don't know why you'd go to the trouble of making a Linux version of a game only to fudge cloud saves and ensure they don't function properly. Looking at SteamDB though, it seems the developers didn't know what they were doing with cloud saves at all; it's a complete hodgepodge of random directories, many of which I don't think even deal with save data. Did they even read the documentation? To come so far and fail at the finish line.
Other than that, it's playable. I just can't understand how issues that glaring go undetected.

Apart from the controller not working with the native version for me, literally everything else worked.
Controller was not detected when running natively, only through proton.
Fun game. Give it a try, works perfectly on Linux.
game should work fine on everything but not nobara, big sfx delay, use proton instead
No issues to report

A lot of screen tearing, but the game runs great otherwise
Bad controller support is pretty well-documented. Haven't tried to address.
Runs great, but shouldn't have screen tearing on a 3080, and controller not detected. There seem to be possible fixes out there for the controller issue.
It worked perfectly out of the box, no tinkering necessary.

Works great pretty much out of the box through Heroic Launcher. I don't own this one in Steam.
Proton GE 6.21-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
gamemoderun %command%
Had to turn on fullscreen manually, game starts in windowed mode automatically.
Game was running at 10-15 FPS lower speed than native linux version. When all you got is 30-40 fps the way game feels changes drastically.
Running this game on macbook air from 2015 led to a lot of lagging. The native version is running much faster and feels more fluid.
The native Linux version wouldn't let me select anything in the main menu with either my controller or kb+m, so I was unable to play. Proton version worked perfectly with no tweaks required.
Definitely native. Runs like a dream.

Native didn't work for me. Bugged out on resolution change or fullscreen mode. Worked flawlessly under proton though.
