Game runs well out of the box, however after switching to proton 7.0.6 game requires less power which is very good.

Plays near-perfectly. Proton 7.0-6 recommended for considerable energy savings with no tradeoffs (that I noticed).
Disable in-game "Steam Controller" support. When combined with a standard Gamepad control layout, this makes the controls work similarly to the console versions and frees up the Deck's back buttons.
The Deck can run this game comfortably at Very High graphics settings and 60 FPS, but will draw way more power when using Proton 9 or 8 compared to Proton 7, with no increase in performance or any other benefits I noticed in about 2 hours of playtime. Basically with the more recent Proton versions, the CPU will eat up any spare cycles the GPU isn't using, so you'll pretty much always be maxing out the battery regardless of settings.
Inventory item descriptions are a litte small
I occasionally saw reflections in glass that had mild flicker or otherwise looked a little off. Not sure if that was the game or the Deck, but they were barely noticeable regardless.

Changed crouching buttons
Works perfectly once installed, but the controls are unusual (i.e. having to use the back buttons). Does not support one keybind for multiple options

Amazing game on Deck (and in general) and works pretty well OOTB. Just force Proton 7 so the game doesn't run super hot.
Default layout is weird because it was tailored for the Steam Controller. Would recommend switching to one of the other official layouts instead such as the Dualshock or Xbox ones.
Game pulls a lot of power when using Proton 8, switching to Proton 7 fixed this and the game pulls a more appropriate amount of power. I also locked the game to 40fps/40hz and lowered the graphics settings a bit.
Game "crashed" once (an error window popped up but I was able to keep playing the game).

Some text in the inventory is pretty small
I'd reccomend turning the graphics down for a better framerate & battery. Also at least for me the default control scheme is kinda weird, but it supports the deck controls really well if you want to rebind them.
When using the Proton 8.0.2 version, an increased CPU frequency is observed, as a result of which the temperature of the GPU and the GPU is constantly kept at about 78 - 85 degrees. With any settings for graphics and framerate. Constant increased noise of the cooler. If you switch to the proton version 7 the problem disappears.
The game default controls were specially tailored to use most of the Steam Deck's capabilities despite being released long ago.
Running with global performance set/capped to 40fps
Reassigned the grip and face buttons to my preference
Refresh Rate: 40hz
Changes to controller config were quickly reflected in game. Even Steam Deck specific button prompts were supported.
