Until Proton pulls in an updated version of DXVK, you need to download a recent build artifact and extract the 32-bit DXVK dlls into the game folder. They can be downloaded here: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/actions/workflows/artifacts.yml?query=branch%3Amaster
Abandoned, unlisted, broken. Why bother.
The game doesn't even launch.
As of right now, the game is pretty much unplayable, although with some tweaking you can manage to get into the game.

Missing UI
To get it running, you gotta tinker around a bit:
- First off, launch the game once with the latest Proton version and let it go through the initial setup steps.
- Once the status in Steam changed back to "Play", you gotta install "Games for Windows Live" via protontricks: "protontricks 44340 -q gfw"
- Next, you need to disable both ESYNC and FSYNC by setting the launch parameters to the following: "PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%"
- Now you can launch the game again and it should boot up fine. You gotta wait until you see an empty main menu.
- Once you see the static/noice background animation playing, press enter once and a GFW popup should appear, where you have to create an offline account. When launching the game again in the future, you still have to press enter once, although there won't be any other GFW popup to go through.
- After that you are back in the main menu, although you can't see any buttons. First you wanna press enter and then escape after to ensure you have the first menu entry selected. After that you just press enter thrice, which will first enter the mission selection, then into the loadout and mission info screen and lastly start the mission.
- Enjoy the game with broken graphics and no hud.
Obviously this is by no means playable, although hopefully this report sparks some interest and results in others trying to find solutions for the remaining issues.
Game crashes when trying to bring up the main menu. It seems to not render correctly. APITRACE was not possible.
You will need to bypass GamesForWindowsLive by using a local account xlive.dll+ini files. This needs to be done even under Windows so isn't Linux specific. GFWL died a long time ago, taking many games with it (especially their Multiplayer features), its a huge tragedy!

The game needs 2 Dlls override to get it not to crash at launch: .NET 4.0 GFWL Steam tries to install them by default but the game won't launch then. To get the game to work: Prevent .NET and GFWL to be installed by renaming them in the game directory: cd path-to/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Operation\ Flashpoint\ Red\ River/redist/ mv DotNet/dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe DotNet/dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe.bak mv GFWL/gfwlivesetup.exe GFWL/gfwlivesetup.exe.bak Now launch the game, it won't even start because it needs xlive.dll but it's going to install dx9 and vcrun2008 just fine. After that run: winetricks -q gfw dotnet40 Before launching the game you can set your resolution here: ~/Documents/My\ Games/OFRR/hardwaresettings/hardware_settings_config.xml Now start the game and after the intro videos you will end up in the menu, which will be without fonts You will need to press 'ENTER' to get GFWL to open, then press 'ESC' or create an account (r u mad?). Then just randomly press 'ENTER' to get the game to start a new campaign.. After the correctly rendered intro video you will be able to play but with some heavy graphical errors and with no hud!
