Beside the dips at random moments the experience was fine
at some moments the game experienced some dips, I'll say it was kind of random
Occasional slowdowns, never below 40fps
deck controls itself works fine, if using kb on docked mode, keyboard will only let you jump once, and binded button to jump no longer works
Got black screen when starting actual gameplay, but enabling scanlines fixed it for some reason? Tried the directx setup trick mentioned for nile, but that didn't make any difference
Could only get it to work by enabling scan lines in the games options
Haven't tested beyond being able to get to the actual gameplay, but wanted to share what I found
This applies to anyone using the amazon games version (from nile). I did not get any graphics when I launched, so I followed this reddit thread, https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/w0ae12/metal_slug_2_from_amazon_games_black_screen/, which is to launch dxsetup.exe, let that finish, and then change it back to mslug2.exe, then it works perfectly.
This only applies to the amazon games version installation with nile (https://github.com/imLinguin/nile).
The game stutters way too much.
It's beyond the point of being tolerable, the game contantly lags and is a real pain to play.
Works just fine out of the box.
No error messages or problems other than the bit of lag/slowness experienced. No input lag, just game animations themselves.
Slight lagginess/slowness but that might be normal for this game. FPS was showing 55+ majority of the time. Was hard to tell if game was running at full-speed or not.
Major lag spikes every couple of seconds
Needs some tweaks and make sure you are using the correct Proton version:
- 1) .dll libraries must be replaced (see comment below)
- 2a) With Proton version 4.11 there are no more issues
- 2b) With Proton version 5.0 appears a PopUp Error --> To solve this one, add this start option PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%

Replace the DLLs files to avoid Error PopUp and a Black Screen
Give an error message and the exits the game.
doesnt start, complain about a error on render9_utils.cpp, i try install dx9 with protontricks, but doenst help
