No error messages or problems other than the bit of lag/slowness experienced. No input lag, just game animations themselves.
Slight lagginess/slowness but that might be normal for this game. FPS was showing 55+ majority of the time. Was hard to tell if game was running at full-speed or not.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Had to use launch options PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
to get hosting multiplayer games not to crash. Joining games hosted by others did not require this, however.
For clarification, using current Proton (7.0-2)
Tip for KDE users: make sure to toggle/disable compositor prior to playing (Alt+Shift+F12). This prevents the compositor from making even fast frame rates "feel slow"
Minimal adjustments needed to get it working. Once working, have not noticed any instability or bugs so far.
With Fullscreen enabled, "Auto-Detect (Default)" setting for Fullscreen Display did not work- had to switch it to any other option (Exclusive), Display 1, or Display 2, then it looked normal. Otherwise it was off-center and not properly aligned with the monitor.
Tried a number of other Proton versions (including GE 37 and older GE versions) and nothing worked except Proton Experimental.
Not sure if Proton related or my system, but using Xbox One X series controller wirelessly resulted in very buggy/laggy (2-3 seconds) vibration patterns, which was very jarring. Using controller wired avoids this issue altogether.
Have to force Proton (Experimental, GE, or latest) just to make sure Steam doesn't download the dead/unplayable "native Linux client". Otherwise it will download the abandoned Linux version just to tell you on launch that the platform is no longer supported. So far, can't really tell much difference between recent Proton versions otherwise
Game doesn't seem to disable KDE compositing on its own, so for those with KDE, make sure to toggle off compositing before playing. (Alt+Shift+F12). Otherwise, no matter your reported frame rate, it will feel like 30-60 and look strange.
