protontricks 35000 openal
Needs to install OpenAL to get in-game sounds.
Played with Proton 9.0-4 and tunes by protontricks 35000 openal
.

Technically playable I guess
Framerate varies wildly, sometimes all the way to the 30s for very little reason

Installed OpenAL to fix missing sounds
By default only cutscenes have audio. The fix is to install OpenAL through protontricks.
I had a lot of trouble getting this game to detect my xbox controller. What finally made it playable with a gamepad was changing proton to 6.3-8 as well as completely disabling steam input.
Game works great on Linux, but sound and gamepad support are broken by default. The fix is to install OpenAL through protontricks to get the sound to work nicely and disabling steam input + changing proton to 6.3-8 to get gamepad to work. Your results may vary, but this is what worked for me and so far I haven't had any other issues with the game.

The common method to fix this seems to be installing OpenAL via protontricks, but the easiest way is to simply force the game to use Proton 6.3-8. No need to do anything else.
Basically, the only problem this game has (which is also an issue on Windows) is the missing audio. The fix for this on Windows is installing OpenAL, which some people have also done on the Deck via protontricks. However, I found a thread that suggested using Proton 6.3-8 instead. Lo and behold, it works like a charm. No need to fiddle with protontricks at all.

In my case, any audio outside of cutscenes would not play. I needed to use ProtonTricks to install openAL in order to get it to work. After that, I encountered no more issues.
As long as you use ProtonTricks to install openAL you should be good

Initially had no audio outside of cutscenes, Installed openAL using protontricks and all audio worked perfectly after.

Game runs perfectly fine, with missing audio during gameplay.
Main issue is audio.
Cutscenes are fine, but during actual gameplay there is no audio at all.

Runs smoothly with full controller support. In game sound restored by switching to Proton 7.0-6.
Audio outside of cutscenes is missing on Proton 8.0-3
Minor graphical glitches like flickering grass when camera is behind transparent surfaces (like waterfalls). May not be Proton specific.

Twice during a playthrough was audio so broken that I had to restart the game. The sounds were being played twice as fast as usual.
The game started with mouse input. I needed to use the touchpad to select gamepad input in the menu, afterwards it was fine.
Some areas had the FPS dip down into the 40s
Worked good on a SD in 2023.

Worked Perfectly! Just did some adjustments to the sound issue. No sound fix: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2994118493
Need to install OpenAL throught Proton (Steam)
Working really well. But with no audio, even in the Windows version. Need to install OpenAL in order to sound work properly.

There is no option for windowed mode
I had to lower my resolution to 1080p for the game to successfully launch but after the first time I was able to set my resolution back to 4k with no issues.
Game crashes when the first loadin screen (before the main menu) appears...
This game actually works better on Linux with proton than on PCs with Win10/11.
Audio crackles in some areas. This bug was also noticed on windows 10. In my case it only happened during the final boss fight so it's not an important issue.
Switched the controller layout to the gamepad template in steam to make dualshock4 work
Controler layout needs to be changed to the Gamepad template to work properly. (only tested dualshock4)
System is updated at latest, tried several versions of Proton to no avail.
Controller only works if you don't touch anything while the game launches
Game looks and plays great on the steam deck, but the controls only work if you don't touch anything while the games logos show. Super weird, and definitely not what I'd consider "verified", but it is totally playable on deck.
Game has no window mode.
The game only supports xinput, but it doesn't work at all on Linux.
Tried all options (Steam Input on/off with different manual and community configurations, other controller wrappers), tested with a DualShock 4 and Xbox One S controller, both wired and wireless.
Both controllers worked on Windows 10, the Xbox One S without any configuration.
The game initially kept crashing upon loading the title screen. The issue resolved itself when trying again later the same day, has worked fine eversince with all proton versions tested previuosly (mainly 6.3-8 and up, including Experimental.)
Other than controller input, the game seems to run exactly as on Windows 10, maybe even better considering installing OpenAL (not included with the game's installation) was necessary for sound to work on the Windows side.
Everything is pefect besides controller inputs.
I tried both my Dualshock 4 and Steam Controller and they will not work. They do work if I tie M/KB inputs to them, but trying to use the normal Steam Input/360 controls do nothing.
I was able to run the game with 60+ fps without any issues whatsoever when it comes to gameplay, however as noted above there are some input issues.
Works well
Game has no window mode.
Played with Proton 6.3-8.
If you don't mind 15-25 fps (depending on cpu) then it is fully playable until the end.
Xbox 360 controller not detected.
Very High CPU Usage caused either by AI or Grass triggers or animation. When game is paused it shoots back up to 145fps+.
I hope this frame-rate issue gets resolved, seems to do something how the grass works and it makes too many calls and DXVK can't keep up.
Runs perfectly, no fps drops and its as simple as running the game.
Also launched in Proton 5.0.9
The game was running at 20-25 fps.
Works fine at 165 FPS+, issues with alt + tab
Problems with alt tabbing on Cinnamon

Played with Proton 5.0-7 and command params PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Works without any issues.
Now with Proton 5.0 released, D9VK is enabled by default, so there are no more framerate issues. It works out-of-the-box, no additional steps needed.

25 FPS MAX
25 FPS MAX

To get good performance in Mini Ninjas, you need to run it with D9VK. There are some stuttering in some areas, especially in big wide areas (FPS drops to about 40-50 range). Average FPS I get is around 80-144 FPS. Very playable with D9VK.

Game runs at around 10-20 fps

The game with proton 4.2-9 was tested. In terms of performance goes from 30 to 40 frames. The gameplay and the sound go very well. No adjustments were made.

Works but unfortunately I do only receive 20FPS.

work good

Game doesn't support Xinput on Linux. To play with controller set walking as X in game settings and use my Steam Controller config (other community mappings are Windows only): steam://controllerconfig/35000/1613175559

Works without any issues at all.

Runs perfect! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssM8O2nnMYc
