DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command% -vulkan -novid
Only the intro sounds weird - but the ingame sound is fine
Game crashed once in the first mission but playing another 5h went succesful without crash
The game runs smooth even on Laptop hardware with iGPU on max. Settings @ FullHD. I did not need to tinker around any bit so Im satisfied.
The -novid launch option has no effect, and I am not sure if the others do: I simply put them in because Ive read vsync is desired by many but hard to achieve, that is why I tried the Launch Option to limit the Frame rate.
While researching I found another solution in the Steam Discussion Page but never tested it:
- Go to the game configuration file(s) location. .../Sniper - Ghost Warrior/out/Settings
- Open Video.scr using a text editor.
- Add a line line ''VSync()'' at the end of a document. -> There maybe is a VSync Tag already but commented out, so you can remove the comment symbol.
- Save changes and run a game.
Overall with the latest Proton Steam suggests everything works like a charm without tinkering, so dont be afraid to give it a try.

Some slight audio correctly during the initial logo introduction videos, this is the only place that occurs and crackling is not present during cutscenes, mission videos, or gameplay.
You will have to hold the steam button and use the analog stick to control the mouse upon starting the game up at first launch to create a profile. You also need to turn on the Xbox 360 controller input method in the options menu.
This title has zero anti-alising support leading the game to have a ton of jaggies at native 1280x800 resolution.
To remedy this I was able to run the game at 1900 by 1200 upscaled and Max settings 60 FPS with only very very rare drops to 55 FPS.
To do this before you start the game on Steam to the right of the play button select the cog icon and go to properties, scroll down a bit and you'll see resolution is set to default, switch that to 1900 by 1200 and then turn on the option that appears labeled "set resolution for internal and external display". This will allow you to start the game and then set 1900 by 1200 resolution in the game settings.
The above will upscale the picture for you while maintaining perfect performance and getting rid of the horrible jaggies.

Added Gyro for more better experience.
the game has graphics options to chose like performance, balance and quality. performance if you want to improve battery?
When opening chrome for looking at guides to progress. it makes the game screen to the smallest. it happens to any applications too.
in the opening video
requires setting a mouse layout for the login menu. or just hold steam button, that'll work.
after setting your login account (an offline profile). you can play the game with no issues?

'Serial Key is invalid' on startup
I can't start the game - it just pops up a dialog saying 'Serial Key is invalid' and exits. Some googling suggests that adding a certain path to the registry might fix this, but I'm a little lost with wine regedit as I'm not sure how the underlying registry system works. Tried with Proton Experimental and got the same result.

Startup movies have no sound.
Windowed and Vsync have to be activated via config file editing and you will want vsync if you don't have any other way of capping the framerate. The HUD breaks if you push the resolution too high. Very typical chrome engine FPS jank.

Simply pop a slash window and then game closes itself
I have tried various workaround, changing versions of proton and messing with launch options, none of those worked.
Unable to play on Arch Linux.
only minor audio issues the game runs out of the box
Left click instead of right
During intro
Booting up requires to navigate to control settings and enable controller support; game default to KB+M
Ghosting effect during Unfinished Business DLC especially during cutscenes and bullet cam; dying also warps surroundings into swirled textures
Not supported
Need to change input type to keyboard/mouse to get past Profile creation, then change controls to xbox controller in settings to use gamepad.
Once past profile creation, back to recommended layout
only during startup
Once you're past the profile creation its fine
El video de presentación tiene un sonido de chicharreo, pero durante el resto del juego el sinido funciona perfecto.

This game is running great out of the box with Proton 7.0!
When you click XBox 360 controller in the settings you get great controls after that!
You need to turn on the XBOX 360 support to get decent controller support.
The game came up with a black screen. Pushing escape a few times did not get past it.
No issues
Initial black screen - You have to press ESC then you get Press any key to continue. In game cutscenes play fine.
If you're into FPS but would like to play with some fast-paced action, this would probably scratch your itch.
Followed the recommended use of adding PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 prime-run %command% in the launch options
Have to hit space or ESC for the intro screen then Press any key to continue. Full screen isn't full screen but after selecting your player name, you can change the option to change the resolution.
Runs out of the box! Perfect.

The game is playable, even if there are some minor issues. Might no be enjoyable for everyone, though.
Minor stuttering.
The textures weren't rendering properly.
The game won't scale to any resolutions but the native one. Set your native resolution from the launch options.
Gamma correction doesn't work.
The game won't start with Proton 5.0-9. Downgrade to 4.11-13. As soon as a black screen appears, press ESC. That's supposed to be the intro, but it doesn't play. Texture leaking might be a problem from my PC's part.
Bad
Voice cracking.
Gamma adjustment doesn't work.
If you back to the game after Alt-Tab you will get windowed mode.
Intro video does not play and it shows black screen.
Press ESC to skip the intro.

On Proton it works out of the box if you use PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% as a launch option (available since Proton 4.11) the game works quite well with D9VK (D3D9 to Vulkan translation). Tested with RADV and the new Mesa ACO compiler on Plasma Wayland.

Still borked for me, only black screen with D9VK or WineD3D.

Intro video does not play and it shows black screen. Pressing SPACE lets skip it. At first I had bottom part of screen visible only. Had to edit file steamapps/compatdata/34830/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/Sniper - Ghost Warrior/out/Settings/Video.scr and set my resolution to my screens native resolution (in my case 3840x2160) and then game runs perfectly. Very smooth, without any glitches. The only thing I could not do, was to limit FPS, or turn on VSync... So I was playing in 150FPS on 60Hz monitor, so it's kind of waste of processing power. But game in general plays very well.

Only black screen, intro videos are probably skipped, but it doesn't work with WineD3D or D9VK.

As game starts the audio starts playing. I think I can even hear audio from intro video (it has been long time since I seen the game) and after I hit enter I can hear the menu click and the menu music playing. Screen however is black and remains black. Steam overlay works as expected.
I only tested without DXVK, but there is no change.

Black screen remains even after I skipped the intro video. I tried editing the config file to run in windowed mode and at a different resolution but to no avail.

I got only a black screen with WineD3D DX9, tried to skip the not working intro video, but the screen stays black. Manually installing D9VK didn't help, as well only a black screen.

Game launches to a black screen, tried editing config file. Set proper resolution and tried switching to windowed mode, but problem persisted.

I got only a black screen, tried to skip not working intro video, but the screen stays black.

Intro video does not play, can be skipped with "Space Key". Resolution is wrong and only a part of the screen is visible, works fine after setting correct resolution in the options.

Seems to work well! Adding "-popupwindow" to your launch options, to hide title bar didnt work for me. Intro videos don't play, press any key to skip.

Initial movie don't play (black screen), press space to skip, displays full in native resolution only. Game performs well, no noticeable glitches.

game starts, but only shows black screen

Seems to work well! Intro videos don't play, press any key to skip. Just add "-popupwindow" to your launch options, to hide title bar.

Only half from the screen visible if not in native resolution; intro videos don't play, must be skipped

Game starts in windowed mode and picture is jumpimg... (tilt effect)
