Needs windows version to run well. Network is bugged and only works in Borderless Windowed.
Save Games are not compatible between windows and linux versions...
Native version has a strange slowdown.
Game needs to be started in borderless windowed for network to connect, regardless of platform version.
To install the windows version in the steam for linux client, you will need to open the console and run the following 2 commands:
@sSteamCmdForcePlatformType windows
app_start_validation 310790
Unsure if platform needs to be forced back to linux, (especially since most native linux ports are real bad,) but if you want to be thorough, after the game redownloads, run:
@sSteamCmdForcePlatformType linux
do not revalidate the game without forcing the SteamCMD platform to windows (as you did prior) or you may lose your save. - not sure how the steam cloud save data works.

In order for multiplayer & leaderboards to work, you need to 1) use Proton Experimental, 2) set the display mode ingame to "Window - no border" and restart the game.
Once you do that, the game runs perfectly.

Multiplayer and leaderboards won't work
Playable, but without leaderboards it misses a lot
Playing through Proton is a way better experience than playing the Native version.
The resolution list would not go over 1080p
If you switch between menus too fast or too slow, the game would occasionally crash on Steam Deck.
I ran it a few times on my desktop (Manjaro), I had no problems there, but didn't play long enough on it to get a full report.
I did not try any multiplayer modes.
Had to switch to Proton for controller to be detected
lack of onlinecapabilities. leaderboard is non functional
The native linux version crashes after 5-10 seconds, and also doesn't seem to support controllers. Running under proton works fine with the official controller layout.
Does not recognise Deck's native controls. You have to setup Steam input to use keyboard or mouse controls.
It'll run but you have to use keyboard controls which is no way to play a game like this.
The native version of the game doesn't detect any controllers that I've tried.
Running GW3 under Proton actually provides a better experience compared to running native.
When a tremendous amount of enemies are on screen you will see some frame stutter, but it is brief.
The biggest difference is that when running the native GW3 the game would not remember the display settings, thus forcing you to reset everything on every launch of the game. However, the Proton version does not exhibit this issue.
Also, the performance with the native version was noticeably worse than Proton. The performance isn't perfect under Proton , but way better than native. In fact, I broke one of my previous records under Proton
My new xbone controller won't work under native unlike my 360 controller. Online/Leaderboards aren't working but that's not an issue for me.
