Ran Epic version via NonSteamLauncher. Didn't change any settings since it ran at 800p 90fps just fine.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
Works seemlessly, absolutely no problems with the game in regards to it running on the steamdeck through proton. If you want a puzzle game on the steamdeck I cannot reccommend this one enough.

Symlinking GNOG.x86_64
to GNOG.exe
worked
This is an odd one. The game does come with native binaries for Linux, so Proton/Wine is not even needed, but Steam still tries to execute GNOG.exe
. (An oversight on the devs' side, perhaps? Linux compatibility is not listed in the store page, for example.) Creating a symbolic link to the native executable makes Steam happy and the game works flawlessly.
Juste need run ln -s GNOG.x86_64 GNOG.exe
in the game folder.
Works perfectly out of the box
Just finished the game (100% achievement) without any problem

An error occured while trying to update the executable
Fixed by following ObscureReference's report and used:
ln -s ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/GNOG.x86_64 ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/GNOG.exe
After install, got error that Steam could not find executable GNOG.exe
. Solved by creating symlink from GNOG.exe
to the actual executable GNOG.x86_64
(or something like that) under $HOME_DIR/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/.
"An error occured while trying to update the executable."
In the game properties within Steam, force it to run using Proton.

Runs for me with zero problems, EXCEPT when I tried to get the achievement ""Chocolate Cheater" the mouse tended to lag until about my sixth try.

Forced to use Proton 3.16-8, otherwise the game downloads a dysfunctional Linux version (not advertised on Steam). Windows version works through Proton perfectly and with good performance, both in Windowed and in fullscreen and with good performance. Nintendo Switch Pro Controller works too.
