If you follow the tips posted here, the game will run as expected in 4:3 format. Videos will also play normally.
Run protontricks, choose "change settings" and check the "renderer=gdi" option. That's all you need. Game will work perfectly and videos will play as expected.
Running protontricks and setting the renderer option to GDI fixed videos not playing for me. Apart from that, the game plays as you'd expect.

The game is playable out of the box, only videos cannot be played.
use the "-windowed" command
Since the videos are coded on Bink Video it will show a black screen, this bug also happens on windows for some people, I tried to fix it installing RAD video tool with protontricks and even using binkw32.dll and adding WINEDLLOVERRIDES='binkw32.dll=n,b' to the launch options without any result, maybe someday we will have a solution for this type of propietary codec.
Another bug can happen when you minimize the game before entering the menu, and the textures will be all white, you can evade this problem playing the game on windowed
%command% -windowed x=1920 y=1080
It's a good Resident Evil clone, but not more than that.

The game works fine, just the intro video and other videos don't work. Go to youtube and look them up if you never played this game before.
Used Proton 8.0-4
Intro video and other videos do not play, just black screen. Recommendation, just skip them.
I have not tried the launch options for window resizing or to window it. Just works out of the box now with Proton 8.0-4. Proton 8.0-4 has fixed so many older games, so awesome!!!!!
I get the dreaded black screen, and depending onthe proton version, I either hear the game or it just freezes.
STENCIL x=1280 y=960 -windowed
I do see the game trying to render an image at the beginning, the image is flickering, and it seems because at the bottom right corner, a steam pop up window appears. This happens with Proton versions 6.3-8, and 5.13-6, bellow that I'll just get a black screen and no sound. Above that, with 7.0-3 it is black screen with sound. Proton experimental just causes the game to crash upon launch.
I did try to set it on windowed and with a 4:3 resolution but still a black screen.
Launch Options : "STENCIL x=1280 y=960 -windowed"
The game now runs without issues on the newest Proton.
The game works in fullscreen mode as well. Gamepad worked as well. No issues observed. I believe the low quality audio is part of the PC port and not a Proton issue.

Game launches with flashing videos, everything else is black.
The game is running behind a black screen, when pressing Esc I can hear pause menu opening. Used -window parametr, different Proton versions, still black screen.

Video flickers between black and the game, tried running it windowed with a set resolution like previous reports suggested but it made no difference. Also tried with D9VK.

Works fine in windowed mode. Add in the launch options "STENCIL x=1280 y=960 -windowed" (or another 4:3 resolution).

Game launches with the screen flickering between black and the game, different Proton launch options and disabling overlays made no difference.

The game starts, resolution is wrong. Movies are displayed correctly, in game graphics are displayed correctly too, runs smoothly.
A workaround for the wrong resolution bug is adding the launch option -windowed from Steam.
