Game is unplayable. Tried many things but I just couldn't fix very low FPS problem (Like 10 fps) without breaking graphics.
I've tried many things, including installation of a fan patch through protontricks.
Edited the .ini with:
UseDirectInputMouse UseDirectInputKeyboard
Runs at below 30fps
Runs very badly for some reason. Following FalschgeldFurkan's tinker steps (launch option and using d3d8.dll) makes character models become invisible.

As others have pointed out, you'll need to edit the HitmanContracts.ini file that's located in the game directory:
Add the following two lines to mitigate mouse/keyboard issues:
UseDirectInputMouse
UseDirectInputKeyboard
Change the resolution line to your desired resolution:
Resolution 1920x1080
(Optional) Disable intro videos by changing the first line:
DefaultScene=mainmenu.gms
NOTE: If you experience low FPS like I did on my PC: You will need to download the d3d8to9 module. Get it here: https://github.com/crosire/d3d8to9/releases Download the d3d8.dll and put it into your game folder (overwrite if needed). Your game should now run above 30FPS, but don't forget to limit the FPS to 60 (as done in my start commands), otherwise you will run into issues.

Mouse clicks wouldn't registered till a config file was changed.
(GOG version) Works good
Played GOG version with Proton 7.0-1.
Mouse clicks didn't register. Fixed by adding the following to the bottom of HitmanContracts.ini: UseDirectInputMouse
UseDirectInputKeyboard
Color depth was reduced when I was changing graphical settings. It went away after restarting.
Mouse buttons were not detected by default.
The framerate must be capped to 60 FPS using DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 or else the game will have issues. This command did not work with nemesis2000's widescreen fix when using the command WINEDLLOVERRIDES="d3d8=n,b". I was able to cap the framerate with libstrangle while using the widescreen fix.
As mentioned before, you must edit the file HitmanContracts.ini and add these two lines to get mouse buttons to work:
UseDirectInputMouse
UseDirectInputKeyboard
The mouse buttons doesn't work. Until you will re-map them you won't have enjoyable experience. I just used controller

Audio in videos is asynchronous.

Runs fine,. but left and right click are not detected. Happens on Proton 5.0-3 and 4.11-12. Running game using Proton 4.2-9 fixed it for me
Game is able to detect mouse movement, but left-click, right-click and mouse wheel are not detected AT ALL. Keyboard works 100% fine. Curious, this seems to change a lot from system to system, because I didn't have this problem when using an Arch Linux install. On Fedora 31, however, I had this issue.

Unknown(< 15 minutes with Proton)On Proton it works out of the box, except that mouse input is often uncontrollable, but when restarting it, the game works. If I switch to Proton 4.11-2, the game doesn't start anymore, only with 4.2-9 it works fine!

When going between menu items, mouse loses focus on my Steam Controller. Just have to be careful to keep the guns holstered if or figure out a "double press" option that does nothing to kick it back into focus if I pause the game.
Flawless. Zero tweaks. Works out of the box. Graphics, audio, controls, videos all work perfectly. Excellent performance.
