Keine Chance das Spiel gestartet zu bekommen. Sämtliche Proton versionen probiert. Läuft unter Steam 3.6.22 nicht mehr.

Require use of ESC key for in game menu
Downladed GE-Proton9-11 via Winecellar plugin on steam deck. Very long first start up but runs prefectly thereafter.
For controls enable "X360" default profile in game settings and set standard gamepad with mouse control layout for the steam deck to get it working then, customize from there. Controls will require mapping ESC key to steam deck

Disabled gyro, using left thumstick steering.
Text very small, some not ligible at all.
Don't be put off by the tricky work-around to get AC to run. I would advise docking and playing on a bigger scereen to make text legible, but you can get by on the deck screen.

Limit to 30 FPS
Works well with Proton GE downloaded with the ProtonUp utility from the app store. The first launch does take some time as mentioned by others. It runs pretty well. I got 60-80 fps on Laguna Seca in 1080p with high settings but no custom shaders patch.

Do as everyone already mentioned, and get the latest Proton-GE. I got mine using ProtonQT to place it directly into Steam.
ProtonQT > Added the latest Proton GE to Steam using it
Changed internal control configuration to "X360Default". Keep in mind, the rest of the game will require you to frequently hold the Steam button for the mouse, and for the Escape and Enter hotkeys in order to navigate it. Though it's not that intrusive.
Not that significant, or difficult to read with the zoom function, but still a bit inconvenient.
You can max the game out to the Ultra settings if you want, but it will only keep a steady 30 when not much is on the screen. The benchmark function is only useful if you're looking at the minimum framerate, because that's the lowest the game will go when it's overwhelmed. Tested on the Laguna Seca with 24 Cars in total (mine included), and got a constant 21-23 fps with lots of stutters. Lowering it all down to normal/medium settings (while keeping the AS, Anti-Aliasing and Reflection quality all on max) will net you a 25-30 on average with less stutters when 24 cars are on screen. Loss of detail is very hardly noticeable.
As mentioned above, maxing it out will make it very stuttery if you attempt to play the game with large amounts of cars, but this is very minor, and can be ignored if you aren't keen on superfluous details by lowering the settings to mid/high.
Works as it should, no additional issues, though keep the aforementioned performance configuration in mind. Other than that, it's all good.
After you launch it using the latest Proton-GE, wait for around 10-20 minutes for the game to load up the first time before it launches as expected. It should work as it's supposed to.

Assign ESC key to Start button
I initially installed this hoping to have it just work, but it consistently crashed when trying to start the game. After messing around with it, I found that forcing the use of ProtonGE 8-30 will make it work after letting it sit there for about 15-20 minutes on the Steam Loading Screen while it did its thing. Subsequent starts of the game are normal.
As the interface is very Mouse driven, I then switched to the Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad configuration remapping the Start button to the ESC key. Using the X360Default Configuration Preset in the Controls menu enables everything to work as it should.
Using the OLED Deck, I was able to consistently hit 90fps with max Anisotropic Filtering, Anti-Aliasing Samples, World detail and Shadow Resolution in practice mode and 70+ fps in a race with 11 other cars on screen. Works in Game Mode and no need to Force 32-bit in the General Settings.
I have not tried with any DLC or Mods installed.

Many text fields are small
Follow the github guide from my link. Just pay attention "delete the pfx file" means "delete the pfx directory". Don't miss any step there.
Then according to the guide you would require to use GE-Proton7-20 to make it work in Desktop mode only. This is true. With GE-Proton7-20 it works only in Desktop mode. In game mode AC will start but you will be not able to run the race itself. It will get back to the menu.
To make it work in Game mode I just moved to GE-Proton8-14 and AC started to work in Game mode.
Enjoy.
Small but you can read

Game initially ran, but then after wiping prefix for troubleshooting it would never open again.
c="%command%";sh -c "${c::-17}Content Manager Safe.exe'"
Attempted to manually install dotnet48 (and a three digit dotnet version that it seemed to get stuck on in the proton logs), vcrun2015 and d3d11, the first time I got it running I also manually installed fonts for content manager as well as protontrick's corefonts
When I first tried running it with protonGE8.11, it ran the default launcher as well as content manager fine, even got to play the game with the vanilla launcher, however with content manager, as I tried to install custom shader's patch 1.79 down to 1.70, some would give me an unimplemented instruction error, some would give me a complete game freeze. So I thought I might have messed up something and wiped my prefix (not before trying some winecfg/winetricks fixes), after which no matter what I tried, it seemed to always get stuck on installing dotnet48 (or dotnet472 through automatic protonfixes) and would not boot at all, even without content manager. Steam logs specifically said on attempted install of dotnet472 that my prefix folder was not empty and that apparently constitutes an error, not sure if it just gave up after that. Proton logs weren't too useful to me, with nothing obviously standing out before "failed to create process AssettoCorsa.exe" at the end. Not sure where to go from here other than keep waiting for proton to improve and hope that one day this game will actually run reliably.
not for steam deck! yet. maybe in the future

When you install game, go to desktop mode in your Steam Deck. Compatibility change to proton GE. And play the game. Game will only run in desktop mode, but it's working without any protontricks. Content manager I can't instal, so you can only add cars and tracks manually, just copying them to folders where they belong.
I just add esc button to one of the grip buttons.
It's small but you can manage to read somehow
Just instal proton GE.
I succesfully run the game both on Desktop and Gaming mode follwing the procedure from here:
https://www.gamepretty.com/assetto-corsa-how-to-play-on-linux-proton-steam-deck/
Strictly follow the steps described on that page, additional notes on these steps:
1 - protontricks --no-background-wineserver 244210 winxp -> wen protontricks (in a window) ask you which version of windows select winxp
13 - protontricks --no-background-wineserver 244210 win7 -> wen protontricks (in a window) ask you which version of windows select win7
25 - protontricks --no-background-wineserver 244210 -q vcrun2015 -> wen protontricks (in a window) ask you which version of windows select win7
29 - protontricks --no-background-wineserver 244210 win10 -> wen protontricks (in a window) ask you which version of windows select win10
these do the trick, choosing the wrong win version in the window bring to a failure
The game is perfectly working between 50-60 fps. Text is somewhat not readable but tinkering with resolution may help (set a higher resolution then Steam Deck screen resolution so the game render higher and let the system, not the game, do the downscale. Worked for me on Cyberpunk...obviously you have to sacrifice more or less 10 fps)
Controller works but I still have to find a perfect match for my taste, will work on it.
If you are using linux, you have enough brain power to follow basic instructions that don't even need the command line
Proton-GE 7.2, GitHub Guide Below
Can only be played in desktop mode
Game flickers when loading, the act of opening and closing the tab makes it only playable on desktop mode, not game launcher mode
Game runs ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY outside of setup issues, enjoy my fellow linuxers
Unplayable at this time, the game doesn't launch. Maybe the game need more tricks to be playable
Custom launch options from the guide
A long guide, but a working one: https://gist.github.com/ANBAL534/8057b5200ace9bdd98795b627e550ba0
IMO not worth the effort unless you're ready to tinker with it. I couldn't get running from the deck alone, and it's already a pain on desktop.
Following my previous report(s), I couldn't even get the .net install to complete with protontricks on the deck, getting some generic error each time.
That said - I ended up copying my prefix from my working install on my computer, and it actually works, at a smooth 60FPS with many AI drivers. Only thing so far I've noticed is rumble seems very weak/broken.
Have not tried Content Manager, but CSP actually seems to work too (forgot the CSP DLL was copied over too).
You'll want to set trackpad to mouse mode for the launcher and remap some keys for in-game menus.
Only classifying as borked because I could not complete from start to finish on the Deck itself, and I believe that should be a minimum for a "working" classification.
However, ran better than I expected when using my desktop prefix. Hopefully the .net install is fixed or people have better luck with that (I could've just been doing something wrong/stupid).
