gamemoderun mangohud gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -f --sharpness 0.6 -- %command%
gamemoderun → Enables GameMode (performance optimizations)
mangohud → Enables MangoHud (performance overlay)
gamescope → Runs the game in a nested Wayland session
-w 2560 → Sets width to 2560 (upscales from 1080p to 1440p)
-h 1440 → Sets height to 1440 (upscales from 1080p to 1440p)
-f → Enables fullscreen
--sharpness 0.6 → Applies 0.6 sharpness to scaling
--force-grab-cursor → Forces the game to grab the mouse cursor
-- %command% → Executes the game with these options

When launching, I had a few times where it worked perfectly, and then it randomly made a very loud beep sound that gave me a headache, and then crashed. Restarted using Proton Experimental, and it worked perfectly again.

On Proton Experimental the game looks good, with all graphics set to high or ultra. On Native even when all graphics settings are set to max, the game looks blurry (in 1440p). I thus recommend using Proton.

Every now and then there's a small pop, although this might just be the game, not really an issue to me.
I noticed a bit of Z-fighting on the roads between textures.
Is only an issue when trying to access the taskbar or other UI on my primary monitor. Using the curser on the secondary works fine.

video is bugged
tried making it windowed but itd still go fullscreen
the native version starts , although its just a couple frames of the intro looping , then the main menu gets stuck on one frame , but i hear sound fine . i tried a few versions of proton too , but they didnt even start up

The native version is outdated. Forcing it to use the Windows version played better than on Windows, even with no memory leak issue
prime-run game-performance mangohud %command%

No issues or instabilities on native.
There is some stuttering when going through huge cities, but this is something shared between the linux version and windows, not because of the compatibility of this game with linux-based operating systems.

The native build of ETS2 is still very old, using OpenGL to render everything, which makes it look awful. Not only that, but it runs twice as slow compared to the DX11 windows build.
Don't even bother with that one. Apply proton, and play it via that. It's the same performance - if not better! (i didnt get a single stutter on linux, compared to windows) - as on windows.

While running in native mode, there is a big unremovable death zone on the steering wheel.

TruckersMP also working with no issues. There're easy tutorials online on how to set it up.

mouse is locked at the center
when i open the game after all the intros i cant move my mouse at all, it just stays in the center, as if the game has frozen
RUNS PERFECT!

Runs well even with no tinkering, but if you want more fps i recommend switch to proton. i have tested experimental and proton-cachyos, both is good

gamemoderun %command%

worked out of the box
big picture mode solved the controller issue

everything works perfectly OOB, but cursor constraints on wayland require a gamescope workaround
gamescope -W <GAME SCREEN WIDTH> -H <GAME SCREEN HEIGHT> -f --force-grab-cursor -- %command%
fullscreen WITH gamescope caused flickering when moving the mouse, running the game with proton on directx11 was required on wayland
gamescope was required to properly keep the mouse in the window.
when using wayland it requires a gamescope --force-grab-cursor
workaround when you have multiple monitors, as it doesn't constrain your cursor to the window

gamemoderun %command%
A little less performenc than on windows

prime-run game-performance %command%

gamemoderun %command% -nointro -rdevice
For proper Xbox controller functionality in-game, Proton Experimental along with "gamemoderun %command% -nointro -rdevice" was required. Performance with Proton is superior to the native version. My machine consistently achieves 80-90 FPS without any frame drops, indicating a flawless experience comparable to, or exceeding, performance on Windows.
Worked Out of the Box with Proton, same performance as in Windows

gamemoderun gamescope -b -w 5760 -h 1080 -W 5760 -H 1080 -r 60 --mangoapp -- %command% -nointro -rdevice dx11
I can play with consistent 60 FPS or more on my triple monitor setup with 200% resolution scaling in-game. Truly amazing experience considering that I could not achieve such a good result in Windows.

change the resolution and turn off antialiasing settings
sometimes the fps is locked at 30fps
detailed shadow on interior view reduce the fps a lot

Perfect OOB
I don't have a fancy wheel to test but it works well with a keyboard and a controller.

Game works out of the box. T300 FFB needs hid-tmff2 module
I had to install the hid-tmff2 kernel module: https://github.com/Kimplul/hid-tmff2 Also had to install Thrustmaster drivers: https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/product/t300rs-en/
Used protontricks to install the .exe drivers.

Works great, no issues.
Logitech G29 wheel with shifter was having connection problems. Fixed it by changing to PS3 mode.

g920 wheel, pedal and shifter setup was not working properly when running natively. switched to hotfix proton and then it worked perfectly.

gamescope -f -W 1920 -H 1080 -- gamemoderun %command% -nointro -rdevice vk
Додав опції gamescope, тому що використовую Wayland та опцію, вмикаючу vulkan як рендерер.
Inputs set to (HOLD) sometimes don't start, requiring you to re-press the button.

Works fine natively, although Proton gives more performance and better mod compatibility
Some mods don't play nicely with OpenGL and require the game to run via DirectX. Proton must be used for these mods
gamemoderun %command%

I wonder why this runs so well on proton experimental, haven't tried native though.
mangohud gamemoderun %command%
It works natively on OpenGL, but for me the experience is kinda stuttery, and a lower fps compared to DXVK. I highly recommend using one of the proton versions such as 9.0-4 which is the most stable. If you still encounter some issues while running with proton, you can try running proton experimental, hotfix or a custom version made by Glorious Eggroll (Proton-GE).

Runs good on Native.
Once you're in the game, switching to the other tabs will not show the mouse. No tinkering required, just open the Steam Overlay and switch from there.
No tinkering, launch options are required in my system. Just install and play like in Windows.

Playable but with issues
No exclusive fullscreen.
Game doesn't detect keyboard layout correctly and cannot bind some keys. Cannot use mouse when alt-tabbed in windowed mode.
Game plays perfectly fine however cannot alt-tab in fullscreen mode and cannot see mouse when alt-tabbed in windowed mode.
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
