Very jumpy and extreme acceleration with both joystick and trackpad. These issues dont happen on windows.
Very inconsistant framerates slowing to the 20s before ramping up seemingly at random.
The aiming pointer will randomly accelerate durring gameplay and gameplay framerate is everywhere. Its not at all a smooth experience on deck. Ive not tried it on desktop linux but i have on desktop windows and did not experience these same issues. Great game though if you can avoid the pointer and framerate problems.

Works well. You might want to lower the resolution and switch to window to improve performance.
As others mentioned, your player can get PRETTY SMALL on screen. Small enough to not decipher if you are facing up or down (hitting the ground at the wrong angle WILL KILL YOU instantly in this game).
Because of that, I suggest docking it to a monitor, or just playing on a desktop PC.

Main game runs under 20 FPS, and input lag makes it unplayable.
There are reports of others with the same performance issues: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1796220/discussions/0/3883851089740025074/

Framerates will dip into the 40s in intensive encounters and have smaller dips throughout the game.
Had two crashes, one was a clean crash, one required a forced restart of the Steam Deck.
Gamepad controls work perfectly besides rare changing to KB+M prompts, though this doesn't last long. The player character sprite can become very hard to see when the camera zooms out. Roughly 3 - 2.5 hours on a full battery charge.

Perfect out of the box experience (and such an amazing game)
If using a PS5 controller, make sure you have it plugged in before launching the game. Works perfectly otherwise. In-game hints show default mappings but I think that's just how the game was made.

Some drops
Had many crashes/freezes when transitioning to other areas. Had to force restart the Deck to remedy this.
Fortunately, the crashes didn't corrupt the savegame. Player sprite can be insanely small.

16:9 only
Has some minor dips
Played for eight hours so far and had four or five crashes. Mainly when transitioning to a new area. Had to force restart the Deck.
A bit buggy and the sprite of your protagonist can get really small.

Cryoutilities
The player character can get very small during boss fights, which makes it hard to reload without dying. Apart from the above, it runs very well. The music is gorgeous.

Menu is fine but I can't launch a game.
The game menu launches perfectly. But when I start a new game, I just get a black screen.

CryoUtilities
The music is gorgeous. The on screen input prompts sometimes switch to keyboard prompts. The game otherwise runs smoothly even in noisy boss fights.

Regular Proton would not display the opening video but considering this will be Deck verified on release, I assume this will not be a problem in the future. GE Proton makes the video work just fine anyway.

The game seems to be fully functional but will often crash when a gameplay tip appears on screen
The game would sometimes crash when a gameplay tip came up on screen
Retrying without GE would give me a main menu with the video missing test screen in 4:3 ratio and I can't see the menu options
