Works out of the box. Great multiplayer game!
Played with a friend who was using Windows. Had no issues.

Worked perfectly out of the box
Completed with Dualshock 4

played whole game without problems
Works out of the box

Smooth Multiplayer Experience
No tinkering required

Make sure you update your graphics card's drivers. It was unplayable on Kubuntu with the version 535, but now on Arch with the version 555, there's no problem.
Good luck with the puzzles!

While playing random crash happened every time, had to restart my PC in order to use it
Very hard to progress due to crash
Sometimes after 5 seconds, 2 minutes, 1 hour, ... a crash. My whole PC seems to freeze, I only have sound playing. Tested different version of Proton (Experimental, 9, 8, GE9-1, GE8-11) all of them didn't work.
My friend was using Windows and I was using Linux, he was the host.
Now I use Parsec to connect to one of his Windows laptop and play the game like that...

mangohud gamemoderun %command%
In Chapter 2 - The Chapel, centering the camera in the scenario, makes the game extremely heavy (100% GPU usage and ~10-15 FPS). I don't know if it's because of game optimization, my hardware, or something related to Proton.
About 4 unstable connections in the entire playthrough.
Played with Proton-Experimental [bleeding-edge] in High settings, 1080p fullscreen with 60 FPS stable. Nvidia DLSS frame generation active in balanced mode.
Great game and working almost perfectly.
In one level I enterd the elevator at the same time my friend raised the elevator and the platform disapeard, and was unable to continue progress. We had to work back a bit swap places so my friend went up the elevator instead of me. Unsure if Linux or game bug.
Audio supported out of the box

Played with a friend. Used discord for communicating

Just in the menus the controller icons are small, but identifiable.
I only had one issue. During the Graveyard chapter, when playing as explorer, the game began to stutter and didn't get better until restarting. Not sure if it's a Proton problem
Works fine except for the voice chat.
The connection to the voice chat server fails but can be skipped. Communication has to be done via 3rd party tool.
Game locks up on exit. Has to be force quit using steam.
Works perfectly fine expect for the voice chat issue.

I finished the game with a person on Windows. no compatibility issues. run and enjoy!!!

Only experienced odd audio during the opening cutscene, otherwise it was fine.
No issues, multiplayer voice chat worked too.
This was Proton 7.0-3, newest proton version at the time.
The performance is horrible. But if you can bare with it, it is fine.
Can't connect to the voice chat server. We used discord instead.
Built in voice chat server does not work
After the developers updated the game recently, works on proton with no issues.
Integrated voice chat does not work. Game requires some form of voice chat to progress. Using external discord or mumble is fine.
Absolutely requires Glorious Eggroll's Media Foundation fixes.

No in-game voice chat for playing with strangers and occassional game freezes
Game froze for a second when entering new areas, my friend who's on Windows described the same issue so unlikely this is a Linux issue
Voice chat didn't work but since I talked to my friend over discord this was a non-issue
Game freezes seemed to be mostly graphics based - the only proton issue here was the voice chat. Game lag was the same for my friend running Windows 10 with similar hardware.
Bad innitial video (narrator cutscene) rendering and sound
On regular Proton 7 (or Experimental) the game loads forever instead of showing the narrator video
Played the game coop with a windows user. No issues at all. Used discord not in-game chat.
With bleeding edge experimental the game worked perfectly, including ingame voice chat (although I only breifly tested it, then switched to discord). Only issue is the game locks up when you try and exit.
In-game voice does not work as Vivox does not support Linux.
Some Text in the Menu is quite small
Voicechat not working
No Voicechat, other than that no issues
Voice chat got fixed.
Works perfectly since the last update adding an option to progress without the voice chat
Vivox conection not work
Lags when loading level
Voice chat is powered by vivox and it's not compatible with linux or proton. You have to use discord or steam voice chat.
Intro video was not playable. It shows some colours and skips aftarwards.
Game was borked because player had to join vivox chat server. Which is not supported. With todays patch you are not forced to connect to vivox chat server. So, no ingame voice chat for now and because of that your friend needs to be in discord or steam voice chat.
No Voicechat
On boot, it'll try to connect to voice servers. After a short time it'll abort and offer to cancel, then it goes to main menu. No issues from there, I invited a friend and played a bit.
Same as on PC, can't connect to Voice Servers.
Voice server
Like others have said, unable to connect to voice server
Stuck at connecting to voice servers due to Vivox being used. Can't proceed to menu without it.
Connection to voice server never finishes due to usage of Vivox
The game uses Vivox voice libraries in which developers dropped support for Linux. Actually I've played all first 3 games in the We Were Here world and it's a bummer that this game does not work via Proton (I've tried 3 versions). Also, could not find online any information for flag to turn Vivox voice communication OFF. If someone knows it, please share!
Vivox Voicechat is not supported
When starting the game it does not go past "Connecting to Voice-Server" because Vivox does not support Linux. There is an article here: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/after-suggesting-a-developer-drop-linux-support-vivox-have-released-a-statement.14046/ Stay away from it until Vivox supports Linux, can't see how it works otherways
