The first multiplayer Fallout game and it runs pretty well on Linux, barring some minor issues.
Game runs okay without tinkering, but to reach a comfortable 60fps you need to lower the settings down in the game's settings and use text editor to edit the ini file.
Lower TDP to 12W and set the in-game graphics to default Low to get around 40 - 50 fps. Performance will definitely tank in events or raids where are dozens of players and entities.
Subtitles are too small for the Steam Deck screen. Small texts for quests also going to clutter the top right of the screen if you decide to track all quests available.
Exiting the game through the main menu simply freezes the game. Need to close the game manually through the Steam overlay menu.
Fallout 76 runs pretty well on Steam Deck by default without any tinkering, but for the most optimal performance some tinkering needed. Mostly changing the configuration ini files would be enough but you can go beyond by installing mods that further improves the performance and/or quality of lifes. The game initally suffers from terrible bugs on launch and to be honest the game still has plenty of bugs, one can argue that turning a 20 year old Creation engine into an MMO framework is no easy feat. And in the end of the day this is still a solid Fallout game.

Stuttering framerate
Crashes on exiting game

I think the game is super fun all be flawed but if ur fine with FO4's Combat and don't mind playing an Always Online game then i recommend
Changed fallout76pref.ini files to turn iPresentInterval=1 to 0
Limited the Refresh Rate to 40hz as the game cannot get a stable 60 fps
Whenever you're in public events the game can occasionally crash if theres too many things going on on deck (i.e eviction notice with constant super mutant spawn rates and high explosive weapons causing lag spikes at times)
The Game for me on deck can freeze when loading into the menu for the first time on boot up, forcing me to close it and re-open in which the issue dissapears. The game never closes cleanly however

Limited refresh rate to 40Hz/45Hz for 60/90Hz display, respectively. Disabled 'Allow screen tearing'.
Disabled in-game Vertical Sync by performing the following:
- In Desktop mode, navigate to "home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1151340/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Fallout 76"
- Open Fallout76Prefs.ini
- Find the line for 'iPresentInterval=1'
- Change the value from 1 to 0 and save the file
Some UI text such as subtitles, active Quests, and subtext can be hard to read due to how the game scales the UI depending on the display resolution.
Sounds issues can occur in certain circumstances where the sound will simply stop, however this occurs on other platforms and is likely to be a fundamental issue with the game itself.
The game runs a consistent 40/45fps on low-medium settings, and can also deliver a decent 60fps.

Medium-Low Settings
Runs fine on steam deck 64GB LCD model.
Medium-low settings average 40-60 fps. Used proton Experimental. Multiplayer worked just fine

Runs about 40% faster in Linux than it does in Windows. The VRAM crash and len bugs also do not occur under Proton vs Windows.
bFull Screen=1 bBorderless=0 iPresentInterval=0 iSize H=720 iSize W=1280
TDP | Refresh Rate = 40
Graffiti text, when AA is disable for performance, will be jagged and unreadable on the Deck screen. Not as much of a problem when on a monitor as you get a higher resolution there. Graffiti text plays no lore or practical purpose in the game, so its ignorable.
Due to a bug with the engine and its audio buffer, during times where a lot is going on the audio stream will quit. It resumes audio after a few seconds of inactivity once it has a moment to catch up.
When playing from Desktop mode, the game will not render properly on the Deck screen or external monitors / TVs. To fix, use the INI tweaks listed above. Those INI tweaks also fix the TDP issue in gaming mode, so its best to just apply them anyway.
Online only game, no networking issues found
16 times the detail
audio cuts out occationally but returns about 30 seconds later
Limited FPS to 40
Some text was a bit small.
It ran pretty well. Some occational lag but that may have been Fallout 76's fault
Game often crashes on exit.

A bit small, could be difficoult for some
Not stable 40fps, at 30fps is almost locked
Preset high, then lower shadow from highes to high. Locked 30 fps via Deck UI, 90% of the time.
Works well out of the box. FPS drops here and there. Recommend capping it at 40FPS (30FPS docked at a higher resolution)
Es totalmente jugable, siempre y cuando se entienda que no podrá haber una consistencia en los FPS, irán a veces a 60, y otras veces a 20.
Sometimes small to read
Hard 40 FPS lock for this and dropping graphic settings
Hard to recommend considering the amount of graphical tweaking that is needed and the hard lock at 40 fps. You likely wont see 40 fps all the time and its more in the lower 30's
grass sometimes flickers, but it does not rush into the eye (and only with the GE patch)
To be honest, Fallout 76 itself is not stable, but there were rare cases when I loaded, when moving to other locations, the game dropped the fps to 0. Perhaps this is due to the fact that I play at the highest available graphics settings
In multiplayer, when moving to other locations, the fps drops to 0 and sharply ...
I have been familiar with this game for a long time and I will say that the game works very poorly on all platforms. FPS drops, lags, freezes... these are all the features of this game, and not the problems of the game itself on the Steam Deck, but with all this, the game is playable. I already managed to finish the season and complete the mission 4 times in The Pitt. On average, I managed to play 6-7 hours on the steam deck, probably, and the game works when using a weak mobile Internet. Regarding modifications, you can download and install modifications without problems, but not all will work (possibly due to the modification itself)
You can play without problems and for a non-sense, big text, everything related to missions or subtitles is readable
Occasional disconnects from the servers.
Pretty much runs out of the box with no issues what so ever.
The steamdeck has has rekindled my interest in Fallout 76. I have enabled the gyro controls and remapped a few keys to R/L 4/5 buttons
The magnifier resolves this issue.
Voice chat only partially works. I can hear but can't talk. A couple of times over hte last 70 hours of playtime or so the audio has stopped working completely. Restarting fixes it.
It runs as well or better than it does on my PC. Voice chat is the only issue.
Loving 76 on Steamdeck!
Game works well if using GE-Proton7-31 or possibly newer.
Backspace
does not work when inputting text into a field, such as on account creation/login or character creation. Double-clicking to highlight entire field in attempt to overwrite the text is buggy even when input mapping changed temporarily to Keyboard/Mouse.
In the event of typo, need to restart game or purposely submit erroneous input to force the game to generate an error and highlight entire text field for you to overwrite.
Some users may find that text is small on Steam Deck screen. Gameplay works well with default controller selection.
Tried to run this with native Steam, but the menu would not accept inputs. Moved to GE-proton and worked like a dream
refresh rate of deck to 40
it is small text, but not unreadable
Move to GE_Proton fixed the game not seeing the steam deck as a controller
Since 09.08.2022 Fallout 76 will not launch on Steam Deck using Proton GE 7-31, Proton Experimental or Proton 7.
It works surprisingly good out of the box on Steam Deck even tho it says it's not supported.
Refresh rate 40, framerate limit 40 FPS, FSR sharpness 3, half rate shading
Game launched to splash screen. Pressed any key and it failed to connect citing noregionping. No idea how to fix.
some text is small but readable
Text is kinda small, just a FYI for people with poor vision like me!
No issues connecting to servers. YMMV
30 fps cap
Excellent compatibility on deck
Sometimes text is small
