Easy publisher provided content patch installation:

1. launch the game once, close it
2. protontricks-launch --appid 1015720 path/to/patch.exe
3. next, I agree, next, next, next, finish

Fix for text spacing issue:

1. Download WolfDec and WOLF RPG Editor
2. For simplicity, copy the game's Data folder (Alternate DiMansion Diary/Data) to the same directory as your WolfDec.exe and Editor 2.24Z.exe
3. Decrypt game data with WolfDec: wine WolfDec.exe Data/*.wolf
4. Delete the leftover .wolf files from your Data directory
5. Launch WOLF RPG Editor (ignore error, doesn't matter): wine "Editor 2.24Z.exe"
6. Click Game Settings -> Open Game Settings
7. On the right-hand side near the middle, change Horizontal Spacing to 0
8. Click OK, OK, close the editor.
9. Move/rename the Data folder in the game's directory. Replace it with your modified Data folder.

The issues fixed above exist on Windows as well, so despite the long tinkering steps, the game runs nearly perfectly for the purposes of ProtonDB. More on the issues:

• A publisher provided content patch is required as with most games of this type.
• Text will often extend beyond speech bubble boundaries. It is fixable, but the game is playable either way. Most people won't find it worth the hassle. I provided instructions for those who are bothered by it.
• If quitting out of the game normally it will continue running in the background. This is a common bug with Wolf RPG games on Linux and not unique to this game. It can be handled any number of ways, the easiest of which is just to click "Quit" on the game in your Steam library.
