Game runs great on standard Proton with ALVR
Bits of stuttering (probably hardware related)
I had lots of graphical and audible glitches, but they were almost 100% caused by ALVR and a not-so-great internet connection. Game runs great, no Linux-based bugs, however I don't believe bHaptics work (unless it works under Wine or something ¯_(ツ)_/¯ ). Great game that I recommend to any VR player, uses the medium great for things like firefights and jumpscares.

Due its being vr title and vr is VERY fps fragile. I dont recommend it if you want to play on anything more then low
Game is basicly unplayable unitl graphic settings is setted to low preset.
If you are fine with plaing on low even if you have hardware is able to run high/very high on windows then go play it its very good game

Can only play on low settings, but have strange slight flickering in the home base and in the radius.
I was using a Quest 2 with ALVR (wireless). Everything was fine but the flickering hurts my eyes and is not enjoyable.

Played with ALVR 20.8.1 Had to switch SteamVR to previous release and set SteamVR launch options to ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/SteamVR/bin/vrmonitor.sh %command%

Had to drop down to very low settings for decent FPS.
Here are some tweaks that may help you, if you experience any issues. First of all play via ALVR if you can and have your PC/laptop connected to the router via ethernet cable.
There's a guy on youtube called Isac who has made a comprehensive guide on how to install ALVR and set it up on linux. "Comprehensive ALVR Setup For ANY Device" is the video you are looking for.
Another tip is use 5G. If you can change the band to just ac and the band width from 80MHz to 40Mhz.

Alvr v20.4.3

The game does not launch at all
broken.

Outdoor areas had significant issues while they dont exist on windows.
Tested on an Index.

with very busy vistas the framerates do drop a bit, but nothing game breaking
Managed to play through the whole game with basically no issues.
Works Perfectly

Version 2.5 runs out of the box
Just start SteamVR, then start the game and play with 0 problems.
It's an amazing game, with a deep story, bit janky non-more than expected for an early access game
Controllers occasionally freakout
Includes AMD FSR

Smoother than on Windows
DLSS does not work for me (nvidia-open driver), but there are alternative options.
I often experienced frame drops and lag spikes on Windows, which don't seem to happen now.
Works great out of the box
Occasional sound crackling, but overall acceptable.

Had to launch using Proton 5.0-10, others would not make it into the load screen
One of the "trap enemies" displays as a cube, don't think it's supposed to be like that.
Playable if you don't mind playing with potato graphics
Maybe it is just me who doesn't know how to configure correctly SteamVR, but the fact is that even with a RTX 3070 I need to down all the graphics settings to the minimal one to expect more than 50 FPS

Works with proton 5.0-10
Anomalies have transparent cubes around them when I throw a probe on them.
Tutorial crashes when picking movement/turning methods. To avoid it pick them in the settings and just walk away from the prompt.
Works after the SteamVR 1.17.13 update.

On Proton 5.0.10 I hear music and see a black window, after a while I get an error box saying "Fatal Error!".
Other Proton version (5.13 and 6.3) give me a gray window with some imobile shadows, but won't launch steamVR or have anything intractable.
Flawless with Proton 5.0
Had to use Proton 5.0
This game runs really well. Unfortunately I can't say much about performance because my current GPU, an R9 290, can't handle a lot, but I still got an enjoyable experience with my HTC Vive after tweaking some config files to further reduce the graphics quality. Lag in this game appears more as stutters than just reduced framerate, so make sure you have a decent GPU!
