I tried attempting to run with the default proton build Steam gave, but it would refuse to start up into the game. Using the experimental branch however had the game start. Other than that, game works great out of the box.
Decrease all graphical settings except for resolution.
While in the main menu and loading screen, some text can be difficult to read. Furthermore, when you have extra gauges installed for a car, they can be difficult to read both the values and exactly what the gauge is suppose to be for. Default POV might also be hard for some people see traffic, lowering it is recommended.
For the most part, this game has no issues that I noticed from playing. However, the game can cause your Steam Deck to drain through its battery. Not to mention playing the game can cause the back of the Deck get a bit toasty. I'd suggest having a charger nearby if you wish to play for longer than an 1 1/2 - 2 hours, as well as toning down graphic settings to mitigate both power consumption and thermals.
The game runs perfectly fine on the default settings the game gives. Despite Steam stating that non-Steam-Deck buttons would appear, I never saw any.
Despite officially being unsupported on the Steam Deck, the games works great with default settings. Initial estimate on battery life was around 3 hours.
Some stats in the garage can be a tad hard to read, as well as the icons for drivers on the map can be nearly unreadable/easy to mistake. All other "vital" information (e.g. speedometer, mirrors) can be easily read and interpret.
When using ONLY bumper cam, performance dropped (60 -> 40).
Set in game fps limit to unlimited. All graphics qualities except for textures are on low (textures on medium). Set up upscaling to the "Balanced" preset and used FSR for AA. With this, I was able to get a (mostly) stable 60fps. I sadly can not provide information on how much battery the game uses, but it was predicting around 1:45 hours at ~60%
