The Linux version initially would not boot in Gaming Mode. Launching it once in Desktop mode fixed the issue for me.
I was able to play at 5w TDP for 6-6.5 hours without any noticeable performance degradation.
Controls are customizable but only using pre-defined actions e.g. crouch, quick attack, etc. I set right trackpad to Guiding Wind + other gestures, which mimics the PlayStation touchpad, and used the back buttons for run and crunch (I've never liked clicking in analog sticks).
Unfortunately, there is currently no way to switch between the default controller presets available on console and desktop, so I was not able to customize the controls to mimic the Melee Alternate preset without messing up the arrow and stance selection inputs.
Low preset with FSR 3 set to Balanced, TDP set to 10w, and FPS capped at 40 gets about 2.5 hours of battery life on Steam Deck LCD. 40fps is mostly steady with a few dips to the mid/high 30s when there is a lot of blowing leaves and tall grass on screen.
I was able to lower TDP to 5w without any degradation in performance. Battery life is about 4 hours.

On first boot, mouse/trackpad input may been needed to select Gamepad controls.
