Initially, I was getting instant crashing or the small error reporting window others mentioned. I had to add
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
to the game's launch options. This is a workaround for Wayland based systems.

Worked as expected.
Did not see any major glitches and cut scenes worked. Getting ~40fps with "Simple" display settings at 3440x1440, not bad for an iGPU and proton.

Had a little trouble getting gamescope to work to enable HDR, but using the lauch options listed did the trick.
Tinker Steps:Set launch options
gamescope -W 3440 -H 1440 -f -e --force-grab-cursor --hdr-enabled --mangoapp -- %command% --launcher-skip
HDR and VRR working great on my KDE + AMD system.
