Game would launch to a black splash screen and get stuck

The protontricks command may or may not have actually been necessary. Further testing is required; start with just WINED3D, then try "protontricks 1567420 mdac28" without the other two.
The game is in early access and you'll have to be patient with it for now. Like, really REALLY patient... loading screens for 2-3 minutes.

Multimonitor is borked, as it is in many games. Having a secondary monitor to the left of the primary causes confusion, resulting in various issues (sometimes switching between them on different invocations): stuck on left monitor, but mouse on main; stuck on main monitor, but mouse on left; on left monitor, but mouse moves freely on any monitor, while never clicking on the window; and other issues. Windowed mode seems fine though.
See above re multimonitor
Game is very playable despite the issues, and not all gamers will experience these issues.
Myriad display issues - some objects are invisible, others are stretched. There are certain elements that are never affected by this, and others which randomly might be or might not be from one launch to the next. Reloading a game changes the glitches somewhat.
Installing the Satisfactory Mod Manager must be done manually as the automated installer doesn't work.
Performance is notably worse since a recent Proton update (not sure exactly which version I was on before). Dropping graphics settings a little and enabling VSync in-game restored acceptable framerates.
As per other recommendations, disable the launcher using launch options %command%/../Binaries/Win64/WoolfeGame.exe - with that, it's perfectly fine and playable (didn't play all through in Proton yet)
