Runs at a horrific framerate except for the lowest settings and going beyond medium graphics settings introduces graphical aberrations.
Disable Uplay overlay. It runs but at around 12-15 FPS, which is not ideal. This is on the dGPU (RX 560X), not the iGPU (Vega 8). While framerate issues are typically attributed to inefficiencies in either Wine/Proton or DXVK, this is unclear due to the game's notoriety for being problematic with regards to performance (among other things).
Game uses EDuke32, which means that the game data could be extracted to run on the engine's native version.
Multiplayer not tested yet since it was an experimental feature at the time of testing.
There's a bit of stuttering at first, but it goes away after continued play.
Framerate dips can occur and it could be faster, but it is still ploayable to an acceptable degree.
The game is fully playable. Runs well at 60 FPS all the time. Issues are fairly minor and do not detract much from enjoying the game.
Desynchronized audio only happened during the first new game introduction cinematics (rendered in-engine). Does not resurface after starting another new game.
I would recommend looking at the other reports here, as some do detail various ways to work around some of the observed bugs.
The game should be run using the Windows XP version setting as part of Application settings and the Audio set to PulseAudio in Wine Config. Additionally, xact needs to be installed. These are to get the audio working. Everything else works fine.
