On Proton GE the game runs awesome, no issues I could identity or find. Got expected performance from my hardware.

Tinker Steps:Switch to older version: 7.0-6
The game worked perfectly with Proton 7.0-6, no issues I could detect or find. It did not work for me on Experimental, GE, or 8.0-4, crashing after loading title screen.
