For some reason, my computer manages to play audio in cutscenes, while my Deck doesn't. I'm still reporting it as it is a global issue with recent Atelier games (notably Ryza 3).
Atelier Fix (https://github.com/doitsujin/atelier-sync-fix) is highly recommended. The game's performance is poor out of the box. It seems to be an issue on both Linux and Windows.
Outside of the intro video not playing, the game runs flawlessly on recent Proton versions. Proton GE is a requirement if you want videos to play. If you're lucky, audio may play. I'd suggest trying out GE8.X versions, if they don't crash the game (on my RTX 3070Ti, GE8.X crashes with this game due to the video files). Atelier Sync Fix is also almost necessary on Deck, and I can only recommend it on PC as well, since it will improve the performance.
Happy to report it fully works (cutscenes and videos as well)
The game runs well when using GE + Atelier Fix, but you have to be careful of your actions to prevent crashes. I recommend saving ASAP.

The guide menu and tutorial popups can jitter. It all seems related to a menu loading some sort of video (the Guide menu includes the Help submenu, which seems to explain it).
Graphics settings are saved when you manually save the game. This is an issue with the game itself.

Crashes can happen whenever a video tries playing (which is the case for every tutorial, and some of them are unexpected). Do be careful with accessing the Guide menu (seeing related entries, looking up items, ...), as it will try to load videos and can crash the game.
Crashes sometimes also occur during loading of zones, but in my experience, it happens very rarely.
The game will also soft crash when trying to enter an atelier. An easy way to bypass this is to simply fast travel to the atelier, instead of manually entering.

It's an overall playable experience both on PC and Deck, but it can be frustrating due to the random crashes, and since tutorials (the main culprit of crashes) are unexpectable, and you can't really preventively make a save before one plays.
Runs perfectly out of the box.
Unsure if it's the game itself on running on Proton, but there are random slowdowns at times for a few seconds (FPS dropping to low counts). They are however a rare occurence. Game slows down while opening the scoreboard, but I'm guessing it's an issue with the game.
I just hope anticheat support for Linux stays enabled.
Works well, EA launcher can be an annoyance sometimes
There's some artifacting, especially noticeable on water puddles, as well as some popin in the far distance.
Have you heard of the critically acclaimed and flawlessly running on Linux MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV?
For those making the jump from Windows to Linux, a friendly reminder not to forget to backup your config from Windows and / or use the server backup feature if needed (also applies to people playing on Desktop + Deck).
Works perfectly !
Minor issue, but unsure if it's Proton only, or also a Windows issue : mouse cursor does not always automatically disappear after Alt-Tabbing. Clicking properly hides it.
Rebuilding Kamitsubaki City is also possible on Linux !
It all works perfectly.
Planes do be running on Linux
Only applies to users running display ratios other than 16:9, as the game only supports that. This issue has also been reported by Windows users.
If running with the game's fullscreen mode on a non 16:9 ratio, the menu gets confused and interactive buttons are in 21:9 (or whatever your ratio is), while the game still displays as 16:9. This makes it complicated to use menus or simply play.
I'd suggest disabling the game's fullscreen mode, and switch the window to fullscreen outside of the game (via your compositor). This fixes the issue.
Works flawlessly on both PC and Deck
You can edit the hex values if you wish to use other aspect ratios, this also works as well as on Windows.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Minor issue with fog looking slightly blocky
You may have to restart game if you fiddle too much with the graphic settings. Otherwise, game runs fantastically, with a ton of options at your disposal.
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 %command%
There's a weird issue where the game will randomly drop to <10FPS numbers, and stay like this for most of the run, with occasional returns to normal. There is no specific scenarios in which this issue occurs. Only solution that actually fixes the issue is rebooting the game. Running a benchmark or changing graphical options may fix the issue.
Launch options enable use of screen optimization algorithms, as well as ray-tracing support. Everything other than the issue mentioned work properly out of the box. The port is very complete.
