Plays fine out of the box. Text bit small but still readable.
Set to 1280x720 in game. Set Performance Watts to 10 watts. Able to get stable 40fps for most of the game.
Game seems to play fine out of the box using Proton 7.0-6. This game should be rated Steam Deck playable at least. Maybe even Steam Deck verified.
Binded right trackpad press to lmb.
lowered screen brightness, set to 5watt TDP.
Plays fine out of box. Crush crush community bindings turns right trigger into autoclicker, nice quality of life improvement.
6watt TDP
Also tested this on Proton experimental, Proton 8.0-4 and GE-Proton7-55. It all works.
On my Steam Deck was able to lower it to 4 watts and still got consistent 40fps for most of the game.
Game just installed and worked fine out of the box. On game startup there's a mini-window for you to select resolution and graphics level. I just used native 1280x800 for deck with 'Fantastic' graphics.
Everything said, this game deserves platinum rating imo.
Ran at 8watts
Seems to work find out of the box. Used Proton 7.0-6
Some tinkering is needed to fix the black screen issue on startup. See https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3694#issuecomment-1067313588
Basically create a dxvk.conf in
/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Geometry May. I swear it's a nice free game/
and add the following lines and save:
dxgi.deferSurfaceCreation = True
d3d9.deferSurfaceCreation = True
d3d11.maxFeatureLevel = 9_3
Start the game and it should display properly now.
-autologin -provider Portal
Added F
interaction key to the Left Trackpad radial menu
Lowered thermal power setting to 8 watts
Guild Wars 2 Launcher has performance problems, initial low fps until game actually starts
Guild Wars 2 pretty much installs and runs out of the box okay. Valve should rate this as 'playable' imo.
Two things to note:
-provider Portal
is only needed if you're using an external gw2 account that's not associated with Steam.- when launching the game, if you have thermal power lowered to save battery I recommend not going lower than 8 watts. The problem is if it's set too low the launcher ends up running really slow with low fps. It can even completely hang the Steck Deck while the launcher is just stuck on initializing. Once in-game though you can lower it further if you want.
- Still notice occasional infrequent crash when quitting game. I don't notice any other adverse affects though so not a big deal -- can be ignored.
5watt TDP
Installed through EGS heroic launcher. Cloud saves work. Slight stutter in beginning of logo screen. Besides that everything else is flawless. Works perfectly fine out of the box.
Didn't try multiplayer but game installs and runs fine out of the box. Not sure why Steam labels this as unsupported. This seems at least deserving of 'Steam Deck playable'.
Set to 7watt TDP
Ran it at 8watt TDP
EGS gave this away free on New Years Eve so I got a chance to try it on Steam Deck. Game installed and ran fine through Heroic Launcher. Set the game to 8 watt TDP, vsync on. Was able to play the game at a steady 40fps so far.
Set resolution to 640x480 FSR upscale
can't maintain 40 fps, gpu always pegged at 99-100%
Only way to get close to 40fps on deck for me was to lower res to 640x480 w/ FSR, maxed 15watt and set graphics to low on everything. Game seems poorly optimize but it's at least playable.
Game installs and plays fine out of the box.
