Game shows some kind of "air off" TV image after the initial splash screen
I can still start a new game and hear everything, even control the character, but that's about it. No visuals whatsoever.
Used to only work after starting it with 3.16 and then 4.11, now it works on 6.3 with cut-scenes.
I'm not sure though if the game would work if you would've started it straight up on 6.3 or if you would've to go through the same steps as I did.
For audio problems use this: PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90
Also, Silent Patch doesn't work. The only way I found to uncap the fps was by using this exe: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/31-bully-fps-cap-remover/
The game used to be playabe right from the get go, but now it only works after installing d3dcompiler_43 and d3dx9_43 through protontricks.
The game says that you don't have the pre-requisites to run the game if you don't do this. This happens because Proton doesn't actually install DirectX.
Only works on 3.7 with problematic gamepad controls.
Trying to play this with either Xinput or any form of steam input enabled doesn't work properly. I've tried to set the controls but it would always default to Z axis +/-, making it impossible to map anything. This happens even after having the controller calibrated and trying a bunch of other fixes, like trying to use XinputPlus.
DirectInput works, but there's a annoying issue where you can't run diagonally, meaning that if you e.g push your left stick to the top right, you will only be able to walk.
It is possible to use UniWS patch like another user here showed, but I would recommend just starting the patch's exe with Wine, it's much quicker and less troublesome than going through the process of moving folders and starting it with Proton.
If you don't wanna use Wine directly (for some reason) and would rather use Proton, then add the patch's exe as a non-steam game and launch it that way.
Only works on 3.7. Needs a really minor tweak to make gamepad work perfectly.
Xinput works perfectly here, but you can't run diagonally just as it was on Sands of Time. To fix this, max out gamepad sensity on the game's options.
To play in widescreen:
- Start UniWS with Wine
- Select Warrior Within
- Select where the game's installed
- Put your monitor's resolution and click patch
Also, you can open hardware.ini after having started the game at least once, and change CanStretchRect from 1 to 0, that way everything except for menus will not be stretched.
