Bug with increasing water waves.
Played with Proton 9.0-4,
locked 60fps (game is locked at 60fps anyway), TDP 10w
game crashed on every events taking place in Verrado Speedway (the trophy trucks track). switching on proton experimental solved the issue
The only change I made was adding mouse support on the trackpad, becose it was impossible to select some menus without that. Other than that worked great.
Crashes when attempting to load a map
Launcher and main menu work normally, but attempting to load a free roam map crashes the game. Did not attempt any fixes as previous users reported Proton 7 as working without issue.
Runs Perfectly, Including Multiplayer
Water can do some funky things on the desert free roam map. It's actually quite entertaining.
Online multiplayer is perfect.
Water effects are mostly broken. The ripples created when driving through water will grow and expand far greater than they should, eventually growing large enough to fill the entire screen if in close proximity to the player. It's not a serious issue most of the time since water isn't present on most levels, and even where it is present you usually won't be in the area long enough to see it.
This game can be completely controlled with gamepad binds, even though prompts are missing in certain places (e.g. press 'Y' at the main menu to play the tutorial or 'X' to bring up the options menu.
Changed right trackpad press to Left Mouse Button - Mouse is required to select the menu entries at the bottom of the screen, they're not selectable via D-Pad
Water ripples get out of hand and amplify, and are visible above the ground as a result. They disappear after you get far enough away from them, though.

Played with Proton 6.3-8
The game used to be playabe right from the get go, but now it only works after installing d3dcompiler_43 and d3dx9_43 through protontricks.
The game says that you don't have the pre-requisites to run the game if you don't do this. This happens because Proton doesn't actually install DirectX.
Played with Proton 4.11-13 (only) and PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1.
Nor Proton versions 5.x/6.x works, only with 4.11 game works for me.
Bad performance
Can't get stable 60 FPS.
Good performance. Runs perfectly. Both keyboard and Xbox360 controller work.
