Microstuttering while moving the mouse as others have pointed out.
I have been getting random crashes every 5-10 minutes, been getting memory access violations in the crashlog. Usually happens right after dying or killing an enemy.
some of the waterfall sound effects crackle loudly when they loop - might be a problem in native windows too, but not able to test.
OpenGL renderer does not work and produces a black screen
occasional Access Violation Exceptions while using vulkan. crashed twice during one play through of E1 through E4. DX11 still quickly crashes after starting a map
Seems to work as well as native windows so far.
My limited time so far with the steam version has been in windowed mode while doing work. So far it seems single player runs just fine, no issues with saves or save scumming on what ive played so far.
Limited fps to 30, and cpu TDP to 13
I think some areas have broken lighting (black boxes being on stuff randomly) with the settings i have, but this could also be from being installed on the sd card.
Fsr does not enable even in windowed mode.
Sometimes black screens when entering a new area.
Game takes 10 minutes to load into the main menu sometimes, but once you're in the game it runs surprisingly well for running off of an sd card. Getting an inconsistant but playable 30 fps at my settings to limit battery use. Running with DX12, very low, 720p @ 100% resolution scale.
50 fps limit, 7 watt tdp, gpu clock set to 600 mhz
Touching the touchscreen by accident while playing (so not in your inventory) will send your screen spinning at mach 5 instead of moving it a reasonable amount.
Installed on the sd card with no issues, runs well even with some settings adjusted in favor of battery life.
I noticed that the text boxes get stuck in the top right corner the few times i accidentally full screened, the only way to fix this is to get out of fullscreen.
I just used experimental and it works. Nothing else to say
Played about 2-3 hours total of 2 player coop, seems to run without any issues.
Played on two different distros including current Opensuse install, worked well on both
mangohud %command%
Stuttering when shooting at the beginning of each level, runs normally after a few minutes
Game will not get past connecting to bethesda.net screen
Last time I played this it worked fine but now it will not get past the connecting to bethesda.net screen. The only changes to my system in that time were a bios update and regular system updates with the command line. Rolling the proton version back does nothing or makes the game hang at the connecting screen instead.
Game is a stuttery mess on Linux Mint 21.1
Various hard stuttering and freezing on H1 and H3.
One hard freeze within 30 minutes of testing took the game, and xorg, down. This forced me to restart xorg and log back in.
Tested halo 1 and 3 singleplayer with both easy anti-cheat disabled and enabled and the stuttering was too much to be playable, gave up before trying multiplayer due to extremely bad performance on my hardware.
Fully works as expected
Was able to beat one of the games with no issue and do a few challenges just fine.
The games themselves will run fine, but watch the intro cut-scenes online
The mid-game cut-scenes in X8 will play without audio.
Tabbing back in while in windowed sometimes makes the game fullscreen and trying to tab back out will not work until the game is windowed again from the main menu.
None of the intro movies that play before the games work.
Holding the dpad in one direction can sometimes be dropped instead of moving pacman in that direction as soon as there is a path.
It works for me
Just like in native windows, this game has random stutters and slowdowns on all of the hardware i've used, but the linux version is actually much better at minimizing these.
Worked just like windows when playing with a friend.
Overkill have decided to break cloud saves between linux and windows versions for some reason, you can fix this by removing the "linux" from your linux save file names and replacing the windows versions after switching to proton.
The proton/windows version has decent amounts of microstuttering which were not present on the native Linux version.
Certain maps such as the safehouse will not open at all no matter what version of proton i use, you can get to pre-planning and hit ready, but any time you try to enter the heist the game will close immediately. Game will crash randomly anyways on any map.
as of present, the native linux version has not been maintained for a while, so running natively has been broken on linux mint 21.1 for about a month now. Using proton instead may result in some heists not even loading at all but i still need to test all of them to find out which heists they are. Game still crashes randomly on occasion.
Holding right trigger, which is my super jump button, will freeze the game until i let go or wait a few seconds. Also experiencing random stuttering and short freezes.
Runs with lots of stuttering and freezes, might be related to how this game handles loading files since a lot of them happen on changing rooms, and i have this installed on the 64 gb emmc drive of the base steam deck.
Getting coop on steam deck to work will require at least a keyboard plugged into the deck for player two. Or you could bind one half of the deck for the other player as keyboard keys if you really wanted to get close while playing a 22 year old game
Switch the deck layout to mouse trackpads to properly play this game on deck, joystick controls do not work on modern controllers (im pretty sure).
Runs mostly as expected
I think that alt tabbing in the native port caused my game to start flashing parts of the screen that are in full darkness (only while underground) to white. Unable to reproduce a 2nd time. Was bad enough to make me quit the game after a few seconds and tabbing out and back in couldn't fix it.
