The only thing I changed was selecting "Proton 7.0-4" instead of the default "Proton 6.3-8", both worked. I've capped my FPS to 60 with resolution at 2560x1440, all settings at high/ultra, dynamic resolution disabled, fsr enabled at ultra quality ( playing on a 3840x2160 panel ), I don't remember the FPS above 60 but... yeah
Crackling on the main menu but when in-game, it's gone
Been playing for about 2-3days but since today ( 2024-12-04 ), the game starts loading but then just closes...
If Deadlock is just closing after a few seconds of opening, maybe this will help
go to and open file at "/home/user/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Deadlock/game/citadel/cfg/video.txt"
and find the line that matches...
"setting.fullscreen_min_on_focus_loss"
the line should look something like
"setting.fullscreen_min_on_focus_loss" "1"
simply change that setting to 0, for example
"setting.fullscreen_min_on_focus_loss" "0"
save, and start Deadlock, no need to restart steam but I ain't stopping you
this disables ( unticks the checkbox ) the "Full Screen Focus Behaviour"
hope this helps
Crackles during map/shader compiling but mostly reduced after completetion. When in game, the crackles stop
Do not enable the "Full Screen Focus Behaviour" option, otherwise Deadlock may just close after a few seconds of opening it. I provided a solution elsewhere in this report
After loading to the main menu. Things seem to be ok but then I go to press play button ( only twice was I able to get it game ), things slow down to non responsive and then crashes app dialog where I can enter more information in. I just press the send report button and then try again I've tried proton 4.11-2 and 4.2-9. It seems to crash less with 4.2-9 but same result
Proton-5.6-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/5.6-GE-2
Game runs well but I had to use Proton-5.6-GE-2
=================
For Arch Linux users
I installed the AUR package 'proton-ge-custom-bin'
created the directory 'compatibilitytools.d' inside '/home/user/.steam/root/'
then created a symlink using the following command
ln -s /usr/share/steam/compatibilitytools.d/proton-ge-custom/ /home/user/.steam/root/compatibilitytools.d/proton-ge-custom
restarted steam
right clicked on "Remnant: From the Ashes" and then selected "Properties..."
go to tab "GENERAL"
check the box "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool"
then the drop down menu below it, select "Proton-5.6-GE-2"
press "CLOSE" and ready to play hopefully
