The game doesn't respond to input for the first 10 or so seconds and can't build anything unless I restart steam, it like the alt key is being registered as pressed down. Audio glitches up but disabling music fixes it. Note that the audio problem is also on windows 10 for me so don't know if it's the game in general. Before running the stuff these other people suggest you need to install wine32(and possibly add 32bit architecture as well through terminal) if it's not already installed.
It runs but it only has about half of the performance compared to windows 7 and it crashes occasionally.
It either crashes instantly(on latest proton version 4.11-1), has terrible framerate after some time has passed(4.2-9 with DXVK 1.3.1), or crashes randomly, also the camera spins indefinitely if you don't disable gyro on ps4 controller which shouldn't be on by default anyway, but it still spins sometimes when accessing the gestures menu for me. The compatibility for this game seems to be very hit and miss depending on luck with the game not crashing and proton version.
Just FYI I run it through proton instead of native because I'd need to start from the beginning because windows save files aren't compatible with native Linux version. Almost everything works as it should except online won't work and some texts are crispy but still readable like the speed in 3rd person. Runs well with ds4 controller both USB and Bluetooth through ds4drv. The game runs ~120fps or more almost all the time with medium-ish settings in 1440p, the only thing that will make it run 144 fps all the time is disabling shaders.
Runs fine after updating the nvidia driver but sound is missing from the radio and npcs. Disabling esync didn't fix anything for me. Mouse movement isn't smooth for me even with bBackgroundMouse=1. Not a single crash.

UPDATE: With 3.16-6 the mouse works fine in windowed mode as I play the game in and it still misses the same audio as 3.16-4 did. Setting "PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 DXVK_HUD=fps %command%" as launch option makes the game lag and have tons of visual glitches for me so I run the game with no launch options.
If the game launcher won't launch try rebooting as it fixed the issue for me.
As the others say, copy the content of win64shared to win64 in the kcd bin directory. Didn't test it for long but it was solid after the copy.
It runs more or less perfectly but upon exiting the game it usually stops responding.
Just gonna add to my previous report that this game doesn't work with proton 4.2-9 and it's corresponding DXVK version which I believe to be 1.2.1, you need a newer DXVK version like 1.3 for the game to work. Here's my solution: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/ccsra8/dxvk_13_released/etpbn4a?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x
Runs perfectly! PS4 controller works for me when I connect it through USB and disable controller support in steam. The game can stutter a bit at first when loading stuff for the first time as the same with any other proton compatible game.
It runs perfectly but the text and some things like gui looks blurry in 1440p(and probably other resolutions as well) because it doesn't get scaled properly for some reason. I've noticed this issue in other games as well such as Worms Ultimate Mayhem.
Just wanted to add that if you want or need to change settings you can do so in "SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/638970/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application Data/Sega" and the steamlibrary must be the one where the game is located in.
I've played this game now on linux for 20+ hours on both an amd rx 480 and an nvidia 1060 and it runs almost perfectly although there's one issue. That issue is no sound in arcade games and the intro sega logo which isn't a deal breaker by any chance but it is annoying during some parts of the game. FYI if you run linux mint and use a controller, install steam-devices from the software manager.
With the latest proton version my ps4 controller works flawlessly as do other controllers as well from what I've heard. There's really no issue at all now from what I can tell.
