Last update borked the game.
Since the last update it does not start anymore. Screen gets black trying to load the game but returns to desktop.I did manage to play many hours before that.
Works wonderfully with Proton 5 and proprietary nVidia driver 435. Tested with open source 440 and it will not start.
Same Video settings with my Win10 installation, same H/W and have the same performance on Linux. Due to forth and back with drivers 440 & 435 had to delete the wine prefix and recreate with protontricks, installing dotnet4.0 and vcrun2015 and setting default wincfg Win7. Removed my old launch options (LD_PRELOAD="${LD_PRELOAD} /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgamemodeauto.so.0" %command% PROTON_DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command% PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%) and performance remains top notch, as if I am on Windows.
Since my last report here, I still play the game without having any issues at all, in SP games. I have very good FPS performance similar to windows. I do not understand why other players have problems, but I believe they can be solved. There is a bug report on the games forums regarding the problematic Alt+TAB and Window-Fullscreen settings for the game, which means whatever issues are common on Windows too. Only thing I have done is install updates for my Linux distro, Steam and the game, that currently is on v1.0, and I keep on playing. Also I use "gamemode" on and for me mangohud (similar to MSI AB for linux) to show the GPU CPU FPS stats and temps and also set through it DXVK Vsync on with mailbox uncaped FPS (ingame set to 120). I hope those with issues solve them and enjoy the game as I do. Lowering shadows, reflections and trees' details always help, depending on hardware. Also check in orbit for max FPS you can achieve where deco is almost absent. My launch options are only mangohud gamemoderun %command%
Smooth like butter gameplay with new Proton 5.13 and nVidia driver 455.23.04 (open source)!

With every newer version of Proton and GPU drivers, the game becomes more enjoyable.
I often test the game on win10 (same dual boot PC) to compair performance. I do not see any differencies in performance between Linux/Win10

Sometimes using Alt+TAB crashes the game on any Proton type and version used the last 2 years.
My launch options are not needed to play the game, just for monitoring FPS and Temps.
