This ran flawlessly for me in Steamplay with no tinkering needed.
My overall experience running this on Linux was perfect and easy. This is not related to Steamplay, but the game itself poorly supports joysticks. It works perfectly with the Steam Controller, but I could not get it working with my Thrustmaster I used for ETS2. This is a common issue with this game regardless of platform. I use the Thrustmaster on FS 17 and expected the same with this version. So if you get this and have Joystick issues, it is not related to Steamplay. The game seems to support only a small variety of wheels and joysticks or prefers game controllers.
Started with normal install and distro MESA drivers (23.0.4). Game installed and got to main menu but would not run from there. Symptom was screens (I have 2) going blank and reset back the desktop requiring logging back into the desktop. With MESA drivers updated (23.1.6), game just closes when attempting to start a new game or open a save on Proton 8.0-3. Proton Experimental works however. After installing GE Proton and Latest MESA drivers, game runs really well Started with low graphic settings and it still looked really nice at 1080.
Kisak 23.1.7 breaks the game
Update from my last report. I was running the game with the Proton experimental to check some things for my last report here, all good. I then got the Kisak upgrade notification, upgraded to 23.1.7-kisak-j restarted and now the game crashes at loading a save or attempting to start a new game.
Symptom; Crashes with a game image and loading icon to the bottom right. Need to hard reset my computer.
Still need to use "while true; do inotifywait Origin; chmod u+w Origin; done" in the "~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1222670/pfx/dosdevices/c:/Program Files (x86)/" directory with the /Origin directory in there. Occasionally have to clear the /Origin directory to get the Origin updates applied.
As stated, I run into issues when Origin wants to update, But just deleting the Origin directory and then putting it back in, running the While string in CLI and restarting The Sims 4, it re-installs and the game launches fine.
