Windowed mode is broken and resolution options are limited.
Workaround for windowed mode is to use WINE's virtual desktop. Enable it with protontricks:
protontricks 3310 winecfg
Then going to the Graphics tab, checking the "Emulate a virtual desktop" option, and setting it to your desired resolution, ideally matching the game's resolution.
Custom resolutions can be done by editing config.cfg
found in the "Profiles" directory in the game install directory.
Windowed mode is broken out of the box
FPS was limited to 60 in normal fullscreen mode, but ran at 144 in wine virtual desktop
Using DXVK would cause a crash to desktop when a character appears in the lower left near the text field. Putting `PROTON_USE_WINED3D %command% in the launch options ran without crashes.
The game might start rendering improperly when you Alt-Tab. Toggling between fullscreen and windowed mode fixed it.
If you're in fullscreen and you open the menus by moving the mouse to the top, the mouse may no longer function correctly. Alt-tabbing out and back in seems to fix this.
Game would crash once the animated characters first appear when using D9VK/DXVK. Using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
fixed this. (There are reports of the same issue occurring with other games that use the emote engine)
Save games don't appear to generate thumbnails. Not a major issue and saves work fine otherwise.
When the game is launched, there's an intro video for the emote engine. This doesn't play correctly and may appear to freeze the game. This is probably due to a missing codec. Just spam clicking will get you past it into the main menu.
Game window wouldn't show with DXVK enabled. Using WineD3D allowed the game to launch and play without issue.
Resizing the window if game was launched in windowed mode would crash the game. Switching between windowed and fullscreen in game worked fine.
There's a video that plays at launch before the menu. This doesn't display properly and is likely just a result of a missing codec.
