Everything worked out-of-the-box
Sometimes when last unit goes to overwatch game crashes. However, other people on Reddit have experienced same issue, so it might be bug in the game itself rather than proton issue.

Everything worked out-of-the-box.
On ironman when reinforcements arrived game usually crashed if there was units with overwatch. I started non-ironman game and experienced only about 5 reinforce crashes during campaing. (Most likely this is bug in game and not in Proton)
One crash when entering into city view.
I was able to finish the game. Game was very stable and crashes were quite predictable.
Bugs I experiences (missing items, spawning items, unending turns) are part of the base game and not related to Proton.
I do not recommend ironman run until game has received few patches.
