It legitimately runs better with Proton than it did on Windows, and with the online issue fixed, I'd say all's good.

Apparently the problem with being booted to the lobby when trying to play online due to EAC's problem with Proton/Wine users was finally fixed, and I managed to play online without any issues, the netcode still sucks, but it definitely works.
Couch coop is perfect, no problems there.
I had to use Proton-GE in order to fix the issue with the game instantly crashing when booting up, but besides that, everything was fine, if not better than on Windows.
Even with the -eac-nop-loaded, verifying the integrity of the files and many other attempts, the game refuses to start.

Even if the game somehow managed to start, the game still has EAC, with no native Linux version or EAC support for Proton, and I'm pretty sure it's also the reason why the game doesn't boot, period.
Developers need to start ditching EAC already, it's nothing but a lazy way to "fix" people exploiting your game.
If you only plan to stick to the singleplayer and couch multiplayer, it's still a good time, but if you're in here for the online, then no.

The game logs into the online lobby just fine, and you can use most of the online features fine, and playing with another Linux player gives you no issue, however, trying to play online with anyone else will quickly boot you out of the match, which is a problem, considering most people are playing this game on Windows, and the fact what's keeping this game alive is the online, it's a pretty big deal to the enjoyment of the game.
The local multiplayer works perfectly, no complaints here.
I've finally got the game to run again, and I still think the game runs just as good, if not better than it did on Windows, but the actual problem comes with the online aspect of the game, which is pretty much everything this game has going for nowadays
You can connect into the main lobbies and use the online functionalities normally, but try playing with someone else that isn't on Linux or have their EACs disable, and you can't enjoy the game you've paid for
EAC is a plague that needs to be eradicated, and I'll die on this hill It doesn't stop people from modifying or cheating on the games, and it just hurts the performance and the actual players that are trying to enjoy the game through no fault of their own
If you're ok on sticking with the offline modes/couch multiplayer, or you have another friend that's willing to play it with you by going through a few hoops, then you could still get some enjoyment from this, if you're here for the online multiplayer, just go anywhere else, at least until they either fix their game and add Proton support for EAC, or just outright remove EAC, which is what everyone wants.
The game works flawlessly out of the box, even better than I initially expected due to my specs.

The "gamemoderun %command%"/Feral Gamemode was used to further optimize my game experience, but the game works fine without it aswell.
Game crashes the instant it starts
At random times, what seems to be a polygon of colors would spin and stretch around the screen at random times, it doesn't happen with a lot of frequency, so the game is still playable.
It runs perfectly despite having to switch to an older version of Proton, other than that, no problems at all.
The game works perfectly out of the box without any necessary tinkering whatsoever. I've played and 100% it, and even went as far as modding it, and I never ran into any issues whatsoever. In fact, from what I've seen, all of the performance and crash reports were coming from windows users, so playing it under proton might just be better than playing native on Windows.
I also never ran into any fullscreen issues, but that also might just be because of my I3 setup. The developers also stated that they plan to launch a patch to fix a lot of the remaining bugs, broken achievements, and improve the port, so you should keep an eye out for that aswell. Fully recommend it playing it on Linux or Deck.
The game runs perfectly, nothing else to add.
It used to have a native version, but they removed it on repentance for some reason, but Proton works perfectly, so nothing was lost.

Co-op is perfect, no complaints there.
Tested the game with both regular/stable, experimental and GE, and all of them work perfectly without any extra steps.
