Game runs perfectly once I did the following:
- Had to install Deus Ex: GOTY to get rid of "missing core" error message.
- Had to downgrade to version 6.3-8 or the game would run in a minimized window that would not maximize.
- Had to change the graphics driver from the default OpenGL to DirectX in order to get 32 bit color. OpenGL seemed to be doing ugly 8bit color which made the game graphics very dark.
Once those 3 changes were made the game has run perfectly with no issues.
Poor graphics with OpenGL. Proper graphics with DirectX.
Under versions above Proton 6 the game ran in a minimized window that could not be maximized.
Failure to work on latest Proton versions and OpenGL problems were resolved with trial and error until I found a stable configuration.
Once the correct combination of graphics library and Proton version was found the game has run beautifully.

Game would start minimized and sometimes fail to maximize until switched to Proton 6.3-8
Half of my save games will hang upon load. Someone mentioned a work around that worked for me. If a save game fails to load, kill game and then restart and choose to begin new game. Once the new game starts, quickly choose load game and select your game and it then succeeds in loading.
