LD_PRELOAD="" WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8,dinput,ddraw=n,b" %command%
Very minor crackling here and there, but not too noticable.
After playing the game for around an hour/hour and a half, the game stutters insanely when moving camera (either with mouse or keyboard). This might be affecting some other games and it seems to be specifically games on steam. The fix apperently is to add the 'LD_PRELOAD=""' variable in the launch options. Didn't seem to experience that weird stuttering issue afterwards. Might be fixed later after this review.
I recommend these workshop mods in this load order:
- Ninja
- Gothic 1 Community Patch
- Union - patch for Gothic 1
- GD3D11
- GRawInput (mouse fix)
There's only 1 annoying bug I noticed where an NPC who is interacting with some object (example: a book stand), can't be interacted with. Easily fixed with quicksaving and quickloading though.
Overall, works very good with these mods and a few tweaks to config files.

Using Valve's Proton will make certain cinematics have a test screen. I tried to use the latest GE version, but it crashed everytime the cutscene where Lady Dimitrescu gets a phone call ends. Using slightly older versions made the earlier mentioned cinematics freeze the game. Using 8-26 seems to work perfectly, but maybe using something like 9-13 could work.

Game is pretty demanding on the hardware, and there are stutters, but they seem to be also on Windows, not specific to Linux. Also, I used Ultra Plus Mod for my playthrough, but in my case, it seems to actually worsen the fps after testing it a bit. Might depend on the hardware.

The transition between cutscenes and the game are longer in fullscreen. Also the game sometimes crashes in those transitions (in both windowed and fullscreen, but fullscreen more often).
Mousewheel scroll speed had to be adjusted, as it otherwise skipped options when scrolling (noticed something similar in Gothic 2).
Very frequent crashes. Near the end of the game, I could not brute force through a consistent crash and had to resort to finishing the game on Windows 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Gamescope could maybe fix frequent crashing. But I don't use it, and when I was getting desparate near the end of the game, I couldn't launch the game with gamescope, but that might have been me misconfiguring it somehow.
