Important to note that my cursor would dissapear into the abyss in the launcher, and I wouldn't be able to hit play. Thankfully has a easy solution via a launch flag.
For FSR upscaling, It only has FSR3 and framegen of FSR3 OOTB. Both are, in my humble opinion, unusably bad implementations in this game.
I tinkered a LOT, ultra+ mod, optiscaler to inject FSR4, different upscalers through optiscaler, new .ini files, the whole package; because I truly wanted to squeeze the most out of the game without any significant graphical compromise. One of the rare games I care deeply about graphic fidelity. At the end of the day, I unfortunutely realized just simply good HDR and native 1440p is going to be best. Optiscaler injection of fsr3.1 and fsr4 are sub-optimal with decent bit of flickering, ultra+ doesn't optimize Ray tracing enough for it to be acceptably runnable with Radeon, and different .ini don't make too big a difference either.
Just simply hit play, set the settings to target your preferred FPS at native, and enjoy.
Yeah just works, albeit FSR was borderline necessary for me to hit above 90 FPS. Did some sharpening setting to make it looks less blurry.

Stay away from FSR Frame Gen, completely black screens the game.
If you do activate it, do the following: -> go to /home//.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/DOOMTheDarkAges/amd-ffx/
-> rename the file to anything else, but do remember the original name
-> relaunch the game and turn off Frame gen
-> return to the file location and restore the name.

Forsaken Plains and Hellbreaker, back to back was barely 30 fps at 2k, highest preset, fsr quality when previous chapters were 130 fps same settings
switched back to mesa-git after these chapters, but they both are extremely close in performance

Hopefully my final post on this game. After finishing the game all wish mesa-git drivers, 5 out of 22 levels suffer from borderline unplayable performance problems. I tried all of them with amdvlk istead and it ran like butter. On levels that run perfectly fine on mesa-git, performance difference with amdvlk was not noticable to me at all. So in conclusion, just run the game with amdvlk drivers with these launch options and youll be golden.
MANGOHUD=1 DXIL_SPIRV_CONFIG=wmma_fp8_hack FSR4_UPGRADE=1 game-performance %command%
added the amdxcffx64.dll file to the game compat data to activate fsr4, courtesy of cachyos proton and mesa-git patches
"DXIL_SPIRV_CONFIG=wmma_fp8_hack" and "FSR4_UPGRADE=1" are to upgrade fsr3.1 ingame to fsr4, not needed if you didnt apply the patch.
I tried without this fsr4 upgrade first, full native at 1440p game ran perfectly fine, though I will say I see low GPU utilization, but a bit of research after it seems a game problem, not linux.
I will say though fsr4 + framegen offer BOTH a sizeable performance increase and better visuals compared to fsr3.1. I tried really hard to notice anything odd but really couldn't, especially in a game this action packed.
