I needed to install GE for it to work in this configuration. It was easy and just worked.
I wasn't able to customize my character's armor. I just saw an infinite loading animation.
I only tried the free mulitplayer
Unable to access customize menu to change my ingame appearance, but otherwise was fine.
The game wouldn't even get to the opening menu or start until I installed GE. This is only the second time I've installed GE, and the installation procedure was very simple, and it simply worked when I changed it from proton default/experimental (which I tried both) to GE-Proton7-49 https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/GE-Proton7-49
Saw "24 Entertainment" flash on my screen for a second and then it crashed to the desktop.
Tried Proton Experimental, Proton 6.3-2 and Proton 6.1-GE-2
Saw 24 Entertainment flash on the screen for a moment and then it crashed to the desktop.
Proton Experimental. This is a fresh install on a separate system than the Manjaro one which I also provided a report for.
The game splashes "24 Entertainment" Logo on the screen and then crashes to the desktop.
Fresh install on a separate system than the other Manjaro report I submitted.
Saw the "24 Entertainment" splash on the screen for a moment and then it crashed to the desktop.
Tried Proton Experimental, 6.3-2 and 6.1-GE-2, all with the same result.
After the boring stuff in the terminal the game works great. Both online and the newly implemented offline single player!
DXVK_HUD=full __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 DRI_PRIME=1 DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME="NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti" %command%
To get past the black screen with sound/ black screen crash I had to do some tinkering with the dxvk stuff.
I typed vulkaninfo | grep '^GPU id'
in order to get a list of my devices.
Then I selected the one I wanted to use.
GPU id : 1 (NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 T
GPU id : 2 (llvmpipe (LLVM 17.0.6, 256 bits)):```
That's how to figure out what to put in LaunchOptions.
Then you have to fix signing in with the crypt.dll thing. ```protontricks``` and ```winetricks``` isnt in my package manager so i went to github. paraphrasing someone else:
Install and run "Protontricks" via the package manager if you can (or github). You will enounter a lot of errors, but just go with the flow and OK/YES your way through it. Select the game Nightingale from the list when you're finally presented it. Select the standard prefix. Select Install Windows DLL. Select the package "crypt32" with the name "MS crypt32" and install with "OK".```
fullscreen isn't even an option
The game will launch but have a black screen without the launch options if you have AMD-APU (5700G) and 4070 dedicated or similar. Fixing the DXVK stuff is the key to fixing the black screen or displaying on the wrong screen issue.
I also played this initially with GE9.7 during troubleshooting and it works but it worked with vanilla as well in the end, so I would just do the minimum.
They chose my wrong system - I'm on my Rocky Linux with APU and NVIDIA card, not my MANJARO with CPU and AMD card.
It's a better idea to send your signin credentials encrypted obviously via system certificates, even if it's M$, so install the .dll and try to avoid the no-certs workaround if you can.

If you cannot open the build menu, you cannot progress in the game. Don't bother until it's fixed.
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
sorta holds 35-40fps until I move when it drops to 13 or less, sometimes appearing like a slide show *(default ultra settings, and high as well even after restart)
unable to open the build menu, which makes the game un-playable quite frankly. It used to open, I put the game down for a bit, and now it doesn't work anymore.
This game used to work. I tried it about a year ago. I wanted to go try it again, and it's just not working more :(
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
framerate is pretty darn slow considering my system. with high graphics i get drops to 13 or less fps while moving and sometimes it feels like a slide show. It holds 150 in the menu and runs about 45 or so fps on high settings if i don't look around or do anything ;p
after updating the game to play on the current version of proton (it was using 6.3 before now it's using 7.0) it works great. The crash that existed when opening the build menu is gone!
Don't use the suggested SQUAD workaround.
EAC does seem to run, and it fixes the menus not loading properly if you do the recently suggested squad workaround. I attempted to join a private server I run with EAC on, and it just gives the:
Disconnected: EAC: Bad authentication
error. Just thought i'd save you the trouble. Also the '55 folder' = 12 on RUST. This 12 folder will not exist until you launch the game for the first time. Then exit and apply the suggested patch and your animated menus will get fixed, but playing on any EAC servers still doesn't work.
I have a separate machine to play this on windows still for now... pre-ordered steamdeck.. sure hope this gets working on linux!
