Game runs great. I've had an issue here and there with new versions of proton, but they get fixed with the next version
I have had issues with the game, but none of them had to do with proton. It was always something else.
This game runs great. I had no problems with it. It was a click and play install
This game runs fine. I was getting around 50-60 fps, it was a little laggy, but my graphics card only has 4gb of vram, so I understand.
I'm not sure if there have been significant updates, but the problems people have been reporting aren't with proton and may be with hardware. If the game runs on my crappy harware, it should run fine on better hardware.
Overall, the game ran well. I just wish I could've had my rudder pedals to use as well because they make the game so much better.
-FastLaunch
When I used directx 12 the main menu would load like normal, but I just could not see it. I could hear the buttons, but all I could see was my plane in the hanger
A lot of comments mention that the game crashes without the -FastLaunch option, that's just a luxury now. The game launched fine with and without it.
The game by default probably won't detect your flight pedals, if you have them, but the game is still fun.
-FastLaunch
On windows and directx 12 I was able to get 30 FPS on medium settings. Now I can't use directx 12 so I only get about 15 fps.
With direct x 12 the main menu is invisible but fully functional. To change it back I had to edit the file ~/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/1250410/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft Flight Simulator/UserCfg.opt ( The path might be different on your machine, you can find the file with the search function in the nautalis file explorer) and change the line "PreferD3D12 1" to "PreferD3D12 0" without quotes.
My Thrustmaster T-Rudder pedals were not recognized by default. I needed to make a udev rule in /etc/udev/rules.d with the line from the file /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/60-steam-input.rules (which is where steam keeps its input device rules):
To do this you just make a file sudo nano /etc/udev/rules.d/60-thrustmaster.rules (or whatever name you can remember) and put the following in the file:
KERNEL=="hidraw*", ATTRS{idVendor}=="044f", ATTRS{idProduct}=="b679", MODE="0660", TAG+="uaccess"
You can find the vendor id of your device from the output of the lsusb command which looks like this:
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 044f:b679 ThrustMaster, Inc. T-Rudder
Where 044f is the vendor id and b679 is the product id.
Once Completed the rudder pedals should be recognized by steam and work just like on Windows.
The game plays the same as it does on windows.
%command% -d3d11
The game has switched to direct x 12 by default, this means you need to force the use of direct x 11 if your card doesn't support directx12. When the game launched it asked me if I wanted to check the save data, but selecting yes made the game stop responding, when I selected no it just worked.
Crashed after first cut-scene
The game was running fine up until it started actually loading after the first cut-scene, and then it just randomly crashed
