Game prevents you from booting claiming it is "Not supported"
On startup, the game gives you an error saying "Wine, Proton and Steam Deck are not supported by this application!". First time I have ever seen a game throw this. Tried regular, experimental and GE to no avail
Matchmaking will not work. Playing with friends who have `-eac-nop-loaded` enabled, or single player, works very well.
gamemoderun %command% -eac-nop-loaded
The startup video is completely distorted. Game will freeze during fights sometimes for 1-5 seconds
The multiplayer works, but you cannot play with people who have anti-cheat enabled. They have to disable anti-cheat via -eac-nop-loaded
. It works mostly fine there, but matchmaking and playing with most online players is impossible and will disconnect after around 30 seconds.
Runs great, but starting the game and getting into the tutorial was crashy and trial and error
MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fps_limit=60" mangohud %command%
Before starting the game, go to .../steamapps/compatdata/553850/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Arrowhead/Helldivers2/user_settings.config
Find and set the following values:
fullscreen = false
render_resolution = [
800
600
]
graphics_preset = 1
vsync = true
Start the game up, and keep restarting until you get past the tutorial, sometimes it will crash, sometimes it will not. Trial and error unfortunately. Once past the tutorial, you can edit the settings mostly as you please. Ensure shader caching is off, and you have a framerate limit of some sort
Will not function fullscreen. Will function borderless, but with white borders
Slightly worse performing than would expect on hardware. Can get solid 60 though
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv %command% -USEALLAVAILABLECORES
It feels like there is ocassionaly stuttering where there would not be on windows. I can't check this much further because of mangohud issues. The game will also freeze on a single frame occasionally for around 5 seconds, but this is rare
The game will crash when launched with mangohud
The additional flags are needed or else the game does not perform very well and won't be very responsive to input. It also crashes when using mangohud. Otherwise, pretty playable
I had to perform this fix to install https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/6912 but I believe this is a bug with the current version of Proton on some systems. Otherwise worked beautifully
