it works
I can play the game, tutorial and stuff, all works good, sound and graphics. No issues, except the videos are not shown. Tested with Proton-6.3
-subwindow
Sound is disabled when fullscreen mode is enabled
Fullscreen disables sound in both modes DX9 or DX11
All worked as intended on my OS and hardware setup. I was able to play in both modes DX9 and Dx11, the latter has more graphic features activated like texelation an better shadows. The sound issues were gone after setting -subwindow as launch option but you gotta play in windowed mode setting up desired resolution and maximizing the window on the OS.
This game is great, not only it's free, it's really an immersive game, but has technical issues.
Sometimes the game crashes and a pop up message appears related to Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library (So I reinstalled again all the vc libraries, but same issue). The crashes are more often if your ping is high in the game. Apparently this is normal in this game, runtime errors and memory errors, even on windows. The use of Proton-Experimental helps, since it's the only way to run the game, at least for me.
the game runs with random stability issues
Some random crashes related to Microsoft Visual C++ runtime libraries
the game loses stability with higher ping in intense battles
The game works ok with GE-Proton7-38. No especial launcher options needed.
Freezes only on cutscenes
Crashes during cutscenes
I noticed that the game freezes/crashed during some cutscenes and tested many command line launch options and Proton versions, even the Experimental one, nothing worked. The issue was gone until I uninstalled the nvidia drivers and install the version 515.65.01 considered stable on Gentoo, the version I was using was 520.56.06 marked as non-stable by my Linux distribution, I guess those drivers probably have new untested features that are unfriendly with this game only. I use this command line launch options %command% -dx12 and everithing works good now, it's stable enough so far.
You should not buy or play this game.
Curiously today Half Life Alyx has more chances to be played on different platforms than Doom Eternal, hahaha :-D Valve + (ThumbsUP) Bethesda/Zenimax - (ThumbsDown) Zeni gives you Ring-0 Anti Cheat garbage, Valve gives you everything you deserve for your money. So simple. The day that Linus Torvalds allows an application to take over the Kernel at level 0 at that same moment, it would sign the death sentence of the operating system. Of course that will never happen because Linux is and will be a reliable and secure system. If we allow this issue, then these guys will need level zero of your life to drive your Tesla car haha.
Worked OK.
I could end the Tutorial, no sound or graphical issues. Multiplayer worked OK as far as I could see, but I need to test it more.
the game works with issues
The game works, I could see and navigate through the menus and I could change the overall settings. I tested the training. Graphics and sound are ok.
I can't play to multiplayer because I can't find any server and the list was always empty. I can't host a game either.
Proton fails with Black Screen but wine-staging runs
The game starts using Lutris and adding the game manually, changing the runner to wine-staging-6.0 (system) and also changing to Win7 in winecfg. With this, no black screen at play. The game is playable with this configuration.
not connecting to servers
A initial splash screen is showed then a pop up menu appears with a list of two US servers to connect:
- Virginia (Offline)
- Oregon (Offline)
Both marked as "offline", so the button "join" is not working. I don't know if this game uses some kind of anti-cheat preventing to connect to the game servers. The game is unplayable but more tests/tweaks are needed.
Tested with Proton-Experimental, Proton-6.3, Proton-5.13.
the game try to start then a Launcher error
A pop up window appear: "Failed to launch HEAT REBORN: File system clean up fail" I verified game files and they are ok so I don't know why this error. Tested with Proton 6.3
game works
I can play the campaign using Proton-6.3, all works as intended, no stutter, no graphic or sound issues, all seems ok.
the game works stable
anti-cheat works good with Proton-Experimental, I haven't tested with other Proton versions
EAC don't work on Linux
Local games: works Multiplayer: only noEAC and Linux friendly community servers (you'd see noEAC or Linux in the server name ) No stuttering, everything is smooth on my setup.
the game didn't launch
Tested with Proton-6.3 and Proton-Experimental.
Game don't work, no initial screen.
the game works with Proton-Experimental
it seems to work but more test is needed
The game works ok without tinkering, I tested with Proton GE but another Proton versions could be tested as well.
EAC working good on this game so far out of the box. Just as the initial early access community tests. No special command line options needed.
The game worked good out of the box after installing it
the game worked with Proton-Experimental
During the the last multiplayer playtest I could play a whole match without problems. Graphics and sound worked ok, the game uses Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) and it worked during the multiplayer game. We don't know if the game actually had the anti-cheat activated or not on the servers, but here it is my report that it worked well during the test.
I can install and play the game using Proton-Experimental branch (with experimental support for anti-cheat). The game runs good except in some multiplayer fights the game freezes a bit, that was a known issue of QC but is more noticeable after the anti-cheat update. I think that is an issue for windows users too. The game is playable at this point on Linux but it needs some optimizations.
The game is borked again with latest update. It was working ok before with minor issues.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
The game ain't working with GE-Proton7 nor Proton-Experimental, I don't know if it's anti-cheat related, graphic or any other library issue. The game tried to start but it's got stuck in a black screen forever.
the game works
The game runs with no graphical nor sound issues. I tested only local multiplayer and worked. Tested with Proton-6.3
it works
it works with Proton-6.3, no graphic issues, multiplayer works, all is ok.
