Works out of the box. There are performance issues such as inconsistent framerate but that could be due to game being in alpha testing or developers displaying inaccurate minimum/recommended system requirements.
I first tried the native version but I was getting 0-1fps as average and it was unplayable. I tried a bunch of things but couldn't fix it. Ended up uninstalling, forcing Proton and installing again so Steam would install the Windows version. (if you don't force Proton you'll automatically download the Linux native version).
The ground went black for a split second and then went back to normal.
Less stable framerate than on Windows.
I couldn't find a login prompt for Rockstar Launcher throughout the whole game. As a consequence I couldn't try multiplayer because the button for online was erased from the main menu.
