Does not fully load with latest update
Xenobiology update breaks astroneer. It gets thru the opening animation, then freezes at a black screen just before hitting the main menu. Deleting UpdateSnail_Video.mp4 allows the game to load.
Low FPS
Very low FPS - 5-7 fps
Very low FPS with default steam proton, and with GE.
Did not try any further troubleshooting.

Game would not start
Would play the intro video, then stops at 25% while loading.
Cannot get to initial menu.
Running without forcing proton makes it try to spread across all screens.

Signifigant stuttering under proton-ge and proton-experimental. Downloaded this: https://github.com/rovacado/proton-ge-custom-pso2/releases , and installed under ~/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/ . Just untar the file to that directory, in it's own subdir, and add WINE_NO_OPEN_FILE_SEARCH="_na" to your launch options (add %command% on the end, if you don't already have it).
Using these launch options allowed me to run under ultra @ 108fps, and with rtx turned on: VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr WINE_NO_OPEN_FILE_SEARCH="_na" PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
Freezes at new game

I've tried Lutris, Steam, Bottles, GE, Experimental, rolling back to 525, none of it has worked.
Sucks
