If you have a proton prefix remove it (by removing the pfx directory), use Proton Experimental to login, use Proton GE to play the game.

Tinker Steps:Switch to experimental, Changed configuration
After installing Wargaming Game Center with Proton Experimental, close it. Now change the Target to "/home/[ENTER_YOUR_USERNAME]/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/[IS_UNIQUE_ON_YOUR_SYSTEM]/pfx/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Wargaming.net/GameCenter/wgc.exe" and don't forget the quotes. And set the "Start In" to "/home/[ENTER_YOUR_USERNAME]/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/[IS_UNIQUE_ON_YOUR_SYSTEM]/pfx/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Wargaming.net/GameCenter/".
Now you can relaunch it. If it works, great, now you can install World of Tanks.
