Before you launch into the main game, right click on the game in your steam libarary and oben "Launch Options Menu". There you can select to not play any videos in game, therefore the proton wmv incompabillity no longer crashes your game
After the linking stuff it runs at solid 80-90fps on highest settings without any disturbances.
Tried all Proton versions, none worked out of the box. Tried running the "Enderal Launcher.exe" via terminal, which actually worked "wine Enderal\ Launcher.exe" The launcher seems fully functional, except for writing to the configuration, which does not always work. You basically need to save stuff two or three times before it actually gets written to the disk.
This might help in playing around with config settings in order to get it to run. You can for example disable some Windows specific optimizations like ENB which quite surely could be a problem.
Yet sadly from there it didn't go further. When I click "Play Enderal" the skse_loader.exe window opens shortly, I hear a sound of some "bongos" and it direcly closes again.
So I guess let's play around with the config and see if there is something that can be done
Still doesn't work. Launcher is starting now, but as others described, you hear some sort of sound and then any graphical Interface closes and the process continues in the background. Also, if you click through the launcher settings, especially the Data Files tab, the settings seem kinda f*cked up.
Performance is about 30 to 50 fps, not very stable. Eventually the mouse stops working in menus as for example the inventory or the main menu, rendering saving or inventory usage impossible. Currently tweaking xboxdrv as this problems does not seem to occure with a gamepad.
Works without problems besides the mouse, the cursor stops working after some time. Alt-Tabbing fixes it but breaks the mouse sensitivity completely. Requires a restart to fix
Carefull when starting this game. There is a hidden Linux version available https://steamdb.info/app/418180/depots/
If you do not manually choose a proton version, the linux version will be downloaded through steam. Said linux version is over a year behind the windows version. This will mess with the game and DLCs
Just set proton 6.x or experimental explicitly in steam and you are good to go
Started with only blackscreen, enabled the wined3d11 and it started playing the intro logo sound, however only displayed a greyish screen, stopped working after some minutes. Now it just told me that my drivers are outdated, so let's try that and see if it will work
Independent on changeing the grahpical settings, the game just runs at very low fps.
Currently it's not running very well, maybe if you have better hardware. Otherwise, the game is made in unreal engine 4, the devs could release a linux native version, not sure if they will tho.
